This advertisement is for multiple vacancies and will run until filled with the following cutoff date for review of applications: 1st and 15th of each month.
This position is under the direction of the Supervising Clinical Laboratory Technologist in conjunction with the Chief of Primary Care Services, Chief Physician and Surgeon or designee. Duties include but are not limited; to assisting the Laboratory Supervisor; and training laboratory personnel in the operation of the laboratory, such as, laboratory information system "LIS". This includes coordinating with the "IT" department to ensure the LIS is performing within specifications.
LIS responsibilities include as needed corrections and follow up on duplicate test orders, special comments, etc. Additional duties include performing technical work in a clinical laboratory and the functional supervision of the following departments: Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, and Microbiology. The candidate may be required to give technical guidance, and as needed, perform bench work in any of the departmental sections of the Laboratory. The candidate may be also required to perform phlebotomy duties, as needed, gather and prepare laboratory specimens. Reviewing and updating laboratory procedures are required along with maintaining compliance with CDPH-Laboratory Field Science and CLIA, the TJC accreditation standards, along with coordinating the laboratory quality and assurance improvement (QA&I) program, including daily review of Q.C., calibrations, corrective actions, daily and monthly PM logs reports, and other mandatory laboratory documentation requirements. The candidate will be required to train laboratory personnel and assist with the inventory of laboratory supplies, materials, and equipment.
