We Are Hiring Psychiatric Technician (Safety)!
* This position is expected to receive a salary range increase on July 1, 2025. CalHR Pay Scales have not yet reflected this change. *
Metropolitan State Hospital is located in the City of Norwalk.

The Department of State Hospitals-Metropolitan is now accepting applications for multiple Intermittent, Permanent Psychiatric Technician-REGISTRY positions. ***HOURS AND SALARIES MAY VARY FOR INTERMITTENT APPOINTMENTS***
Under general supervision, incumbents administer care to forensic, LPS and medically fragile patients; assist in planning and evaluation of nursing care; provide a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care; and are expected to facilitate the rehabilitation of forensic clients and patients. Candidates must have excellent organizational skills, ability to problem solve, and good communication skills. Experience with computer systems is desired. Qualities sought are the ability to work well with others, good mediation skills, and a commitment to helping others.
Candidates must be willing to work in any Unit/Program and any shift to meet the needs of the facility.
TRAINING EXPECTATIONS: If selected it is mandatory that you attend New Employee Orientation (NEO) in its entirety. NEO can be scheduled up to 30 days for level of care staff (clinical).
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE. (Applicants who are within four months of completing the Psychiatric Technician curriculum accredited by the BVNPTE will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure this license before they will be eligible for appointment.)

Description of Responsibilities
Responsible for planning and coordinating home care services for patients referred to the Organization, which includes establishing and maintaining the patient’s plan of care, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers and related referral sources, patients, family members and others.

Responsibilities include the following:
1. Evaluates hospitalized patients referred for home care.
2. Coordinates home care services for patients
3. Consults with physicians, nurses, social workers, discharge planners and other disciplines to establish a coordinated home plan of care, and ensures a seamless transition to home care.
4. Interviews the patient, family, and caregiver and discusses the home situation, current needs, and any psychosocial factors that are relevant to the plan of care.
5. Completes referral information that includes intake data, essential background information, hospital course, and the plan of care.
6. Maintains liaison relationship with hospital and insurance personnel, providing information and education on Organization services, coverage issues and related areas.
7. Works with Clinical Supervisors and staff clinicians to gather, collate, and report patient care summary information to patient care provider and/or managed care Case Managers.
8. Works with the intake and/or authorization teams to ensure timely authorization and visit plotting.
9. Participates in patient care conferences and in-services.
10. Collects and maintains statistical data on all referrals and submits them regularly as required.
11. Attends meetings and participates on committees as required.
12. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with current and potential customer’s.
13. Promptly responds to customer’s requests and concerns.
14. Assists in building community, customer, payer and patient perceptions of Premier Infusion as a high quality provider of services.
15. Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of community resources and assists customers in accessing community resources should services not be provided by Premier Infusion.
16. Participates in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
17. Participate in the Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.
18. Participate in Agency committee when requested.
19. Participate in in-service education programs provided by the Agency.
20. Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
- Maintains a current CPR certification.
- Demonstrates an ability to work with other health care clinicians and development of home plan of care.
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate excellent observation verbal and written communication skills.
- Complies with acceptable professional standards and practice.
- Demonstrates good communication, negotiation, and public relations skills.
- Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.

The Associate Patient Care Coordinator is responsible to the Center Administrator and provides appointment scheduling, patient registration, cashiering, answers incoming calls and performs other related clerical functions. This primary role provides front office support functions.
Hours : Monday – Friday, 7:30AM – 5:30PM. Supervisor will determine schedule within the given hours.
Location : 1120 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
Primary Responsibilities:
- Greets patients as they arrive and manage appropriate standard wait times
- Complete check-in and check-out tasks to include patient demographic verification, insurance verification, complete pre-authorizations and/or precertification of procedures, and copy required documents
- Collects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receipts
- Manages cashier box and daily deposits according to company policies
- Answers phones and schedules appointments
- Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed
- Manages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)
- Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
- Performs all other related duties as assigned

This position is full-time (40 hours/week), any day of the week. Hours are varied, could be day, evening, or overnight, and will be discussed during the interview. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
Our office is located at 1420 S Central Ave., Glendale CA 91204. This position will be in the ER Admitting Department.
This role will require the need to work all our three overnight shifts, which are 4pm to 2:30am, 6pm to 4:30am, 8pm to 6:30am, as scheduled.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity and Rehabilitation units
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system at the time of registration
- Properly identifies the patient to ensure medical record numbers are not duplicated
- Responsible for reviewing assigned accounts to ensure accuracy and required documentation is obtained and complete
- Meet CMS billing requirements for the completion of the MSP, issuance of the Important Message from Medicare, issuance of the Observation Notice, and other requirements, as applicable and documenting completion within the hospital's information system for regulatory compliance and audit purposes
- Collects and enters required data into the ADT system with emphasis on accuracy of demographic and financial information to ensure appropriate reimbursement
- Carefully reviews all information entered in ADT on pre-registered accounts. Verifies all information with patient at time of registration; corrects any errors identified
- Identify all forms requiring patient/guarantor signature and obtains signatures
- Ensures all required documents are scanned into the appropriate system(s)
- Identifies all appropriate printed material hand-outs for the patient and provides them to the patient/guarantor (Patient Rights and Responsibilities, HIPAA Privacy Act notification, Advance Directive, etc.)
- Follows "downtime" procedures by manually entering patient information; identifying patient's MRN in the MPI database, assigning a financial number; and, accurately entering all information when the ADT system is live
- Follows EMTALA-compliant registration steps for both Emergency Department and Labor and Delivery areas
- Assesses self-pay patients for presumptive eligibility and when appropriate, initiates the process
- In the Emergency Department follows protocol for special cases, including but not limited to 5150, Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), Domestic Violence patients, Child Protective Services, incarcerated patients, Worker Compensation patients, auto accidents, animal bite reporting, etc. as required

- 1+ years of experience in requesting and processing financial payments
- Intermediate level of computer proficiency
- Ability to work on-site at our Emergency Department at 1420 S Central Ave., Glendale CA 91204
- Ability to work all our overnight shifts (10:00am - 8:30pm and 4:00pm - 2:30am) as scheduled
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of charity care programs as well as the various government and non-government programs
- Experience with MS4 and Cerner
- Strong knowledge of both government and commercial insurances
- Bilingual fluency
