Candidates Will collect and present data in a well-reasoned and accurate manner and maintain the laboratory environment according to cGMP guidelines. Responsibilities Preparing and performing microbiological tests on medical devices and pharmaceuticals as recommended by current USP, FDA, and AAMI/ISO regulations. Routine Quality Control of laboratory equipment, media, and microorganisms. Provide accurate test results to customers on a timely basis including but not limited to Bioburden, Limulus amoebocyte lysate (LAL) Sterility for Medical Devices, Off-Site Clean Room Validation and Monitoring, etc. Record test results accurately and legibly on all documents. Technical report writing including text, tables, graphs, and diagrams. Assist in the training of new Laboratory Technicians. Follow and perform process qualifications and validations for procedures and/or equipment. Maintain control of test samples including logging in, storage, tracking, and disposal. Monitor test status and conditions as described in Work Instructions and Operating Procedures. Routine maintenance of laboratory environment to include cleaning and troubleshooting. Report any deviations and/or nonconformities to Management. Suggest possible preventative and corrective measures to prevent future deviations and nonconformities. **Work Schedule:** 5 x 8 hour shifts (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM), rotating weekends

**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
+ Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
+ Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
+ Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
+ Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
+ Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
+ Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
+ Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
+ Assist with processing of specimens when needed
+ Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
**Requirements:**
+ Associate degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
+ Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is highly preferred
+ ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
+ Ability to work independently and within a team environment
+ Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
+ High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
+ Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
+ Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

**LAB TECHNICIAN - MICROBIOLOGY LAB - RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT (AUSTIN, MN)**

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Works with an intermediate degree of supervision and sometimes direct supervision.
+ Performs assays in the general micro lab that include mostly non-pathogen organisms.
+ Conducts Quality Control procedures for laboratory as assigned.
+ Initiates and participates in Corrective Action Requests, Method Validation Projects, and Continuous Improvement Projects.
+ Maintains Quality Control and ISO records as assigned.
+ May assist with the administrative duties, such as, safety audits, obtaining COAs, and ordering supplies and chemicals.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
Required
+ Successful completion of post-secondary education in a lab based, scientific discipline.
+ Demonstrated basic lab skills including aseptic technique, quantitative and qualitative analysis.
+ Strong math skills.
+ Good computer skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, LIMS or equivalents.
+ Demonstrated ability to perform independent or group work.
+ Good communication skills.
+ Must be capable of standing for extended periods of time, handle strong odors and may, on occasion, lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred
+ 1-2 years of laboratory experience.
+ Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Systems and Root Cause Analyses skills.
