Job Description
**The Difference You Make:**
The Sr. Specialist, Model Development is responsible for developing pricing and risk-based models to optimize Auto loan pricing strategies. This role also involves development and maintenance of sophisticated empirical models - including credit scoring models. The position is highly quantitative in nature and requires an individual capable of taking a "hands-on" approach to data analysis. You will work closely with credit risk, finance, data science, and product teams to deliver actionable insights that balance risk, profitability, and competitiveness.
- Develops a thorough understanding of the firm's operations and business practices.
- Uses internal and external data sources to create robust model development and analytical datasets.
- Applies statistical techniques to analyze trends and uncover risks and opportunities relative to portfolio management and originations. Utilizes data mining and statistical techniques to develop analytic insights, sound hypotheses, and informed recommendations.
- Incorporate credit risk, customer behavior, collateral trend and market data into pricing algorithms.
- Explore opportunity to enhance Dealer Management program to grow our business with top-performing partners.
- Encapsulates analytic findings into executive-level summary documents to support senior management decision-making.

Summary:
The Model Management and Optimization team within BSA Operations is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of all models used for BSA/AML compliance. In addition to continuously improving Customer Risk Management and Transaction Monitoring models, MMO is also responsible for business intelligence functions such as ongoing model performance metrics (effectiveness), customer behavior and transaction channel monitoring, operational forecasting, key performance and risk indicator monitoring, and data integrity control monitoring. MMO develops and maintains user tools for other BSA Operations teams to assist in alert review or KPI tracking. Through these responsibilities, MMO works closely with Information Technology, Model Risk Management, Segment Risk, Internal Audit, product groups, and lines of business.
The AML Modeling Analyst I will be expected to maintain, build, and enhance all analytical models for BSA/AML Operations, including continuous improvement and implementation of data mining, machine learning, and other next-generation analytical capabilities. The modeling analyst will be expected to evaluate quantitative approaches and supporting systems to align analytical models with risk and regulatory requirements. Core responsibilities include data mining, analysis, building models, testing, model documentation and implementation. Validate and identify opportunities in streamlining the data, accuracy, and track to resolution. Maintain knowledge and expertise by monitoring white papers, industry developments, and other key knowledge sources.

As a dedicated Model Validator Mid-Level for the Bank, you will complete model risk validation oversight for the life-cycle management of models which includes conducing model validation activities. Performs the model validation oversight process compliant with the written risk and compliance policies and procedures which require independence from model stewards (e.g., model owners, developers, implementers, users, and other stakeholders) throughout the lifecycle of the model's use and maintenance.

What you'll do:
- Executes independent model validation activities for lower risk, in-house and vendor, models. Conducts validation activities for low-risk, in-house models, and assists, under supervision and in collaboration with peers, on higher risk, sophisticated and vendor models.
- Conducts back-testing, diagnostic testing, sensitivity analysis, benchmarking, and other validation tests/analyses on lower risk models; collaborates with senior-level validators for higher risk models.
- Executes and assists in replicating model development and may help develop challenger models through principles of predictive modeling, machine learning, time-series modeling/forecasting, stress testing, heuristic models, actuarial models, and/or other techniques.
- Reviews at a working experience level the end-to-end life-cycle management of model development, implementation, ongoing monitoring, and use in areas of Banking and Insurance (Property & Casualty and Life) along with their corresponding business support functions and operational processes.
- Assesses the materiality of model changes and conducts model change validations.
- Produces and delivers validation reports and related validation work to model validation management and model stakeholders.
