**Responsibilities**
**Purpose:** To support the Molding Operations in our tool room in the areas of mold repair, maintenace, cleaning, as well as production set up.
+ Coordinates tooling projects.
+ Maintain a clean work area.
+ Act as a backup to trouble shoot mold problems and make assessments on what needs to be repaired, working with technicians and managers to correct problems.
+ Assist in mold set up and removal. Set up mold in press. Connect all auxiliary equipment, water lines, and hydraulic lines. Pull mold out of press - drain water lines, disconnect auxiliary equipment.
+ Mold maintenance - Disassemble and clean mold plates and mold tooling.
+ Minor mold repair - repair stripped threads, change o-rings and seals, minor parting line repair, change heater rods, sand/bead blast cavities, change pin/bushings, etc.
+ Crate molds for shipment. Uncrate molds received in.
+ Maintain mold inventory and a mold parts inventory.
+ Maintain a mold maintenance record history.
+ Maintain log and safety inspections on electric mold cart / lifts. Complete safety checks once per week on mold cart, lifts and hoists.
+ Input and extract information from a computer.
+ Complete paperwork - dealing with mold service, mold transfer, shipping paperwork, etc.
+ All other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Must have the ability to coordinate projects using mechanical aptitude to identify and solve problems.
+ Must be able to perform mold maintenance by disassembling and cleaning mold plates and mold tooling.
+ Must be able to work with cleaning solvents, polishing compounds, rust preventatives, grease and oil.
+ Must be able to slide mold plates of various weights when cleaning, assembling and disassembling.
+ Must be able to move parts or entire molds from production floor to mold repair area with the use of a hand truck or cart.
+ Must be able to perform minor mold repair.

Job DescriptionThe Mold Maintenance and Repair Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of injection molds to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, improving production efficiency, and maintaining the quality of molded parts.
Main accountabilities and tasks
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on all injection molds based on maintenance schedules Leads and participates in formal problem-solving, including formal reporting for internal and external customers
- Troubleshoot and repair injection molds, including addressing issues such as flash, short shots, galling, wear, and misalignment. Supports the cross Global cross functional teams with projects and initiative’s
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble molds using proper techniques and tools. Conduct data analysis and develop reports to support production operations
- Diagnose mold-related production issues and recommend corrective actions. Based on the KPi matrix, Identify and support areas for improvement and make recommendations to increase efficiency and effectiveness
- Inspect, test, and repair hot runner systems, including manifolds, heaters, thermocouples / open and valve gate systems
- Maintain detailed maintenance records for all mold tools, including work performed, findings, and parts replaced.
- Identify spare parts needed, control spare part inventory and reorder parts used.
- Inspect mold components (ejector pins, slides, lifters, cavities, cores, etc.) for wear or damage and replace as necessary.
- Work with the production team and process engineers to identify and resolve mold-related issues.
- Coordinate with outside vendors or tool shops for mold modifications, welding, or machining when required.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the mold maintenance area and tool crib.
- Recommend improvements to tooling design, maintenance practices, or component selection to improve reliability and performance.
Desired experience and qualifications
Work experience : 3+ years of experience in mold maintenance and repair in an injection molding environment
Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in mold making or industrial maintenance is a plus.
Other:
- Strong understanding of mold construction, including hot runner systems, hydraulic/pneumatic actuated tools, and multi-cavity molds.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tool drawings, and technical documents.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).

Your Role at KIK
At KIK the ideal candidate will exhibit a desire to swiftly solve equipment breakdowns, coupled with skills in mechanics, welding, and machining, is vital. This person will operate advanced tools, set up and modify equipment for new products. This role will require skills that go beyond routine maintenance. We are seeking someone to express their unique solutions promptly and train operators interactively. It is of the utmost importance that the ideal candidate is able to work comfortably around bleach and other similar chemicals with the proper PPE provided.
What You’ll Be Doing
Diagnose mechanical problems, provide quick & innovative solutions for mechanical equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving.
Basic Electrical troubleshooting and repairs, Hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs, Pneumatics trouble shooting and repairs.
Operate a mill, lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and all other machine shop tools.
Setup, takedown, and relocation of Process and Packaging equipment
Frequently modify packaging & process equipment for new products
Perform preventative maintenance, and safety inspection.
Provide solutions to routine or unique equipment problems.
Promptly respond to equipment related issues with customer-oriented manner.
Interact and train any operator as directed on equipment operation, troubleshooting and changeovers.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 4 years mechanical experience in a high-speed packaging and/or manufacturing environment (food/bottling industry is highly preferred)
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of preventative maintenance programs
- Must be flexible to work rotational Shift Work (days, afternoons, nights)
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with lots of changes
- Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and Lockout Procedures

**What You'll Be Doing**
+ Operates machinery that blow molds containers of various sizes and colors.
+ Monitors the quality of bottles and ensures they meet quality control standards and specifications.

- Be able to bend, lift, stand, and climb in order to assemble or repair machines.
