Role: IT Infrastructure Monitoring & Tools Support Engineer

Location: Alpharetta, GA

Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Monitoring & Tools Engineer to manage and maintain monitoring tools across Windows, Linux, AIX, Client-UX, ESXi, and MPE environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and ensuring the continuous operability of customer approved monitoring tools, compliance management, and discovery agents while integrating with high-availability solutions. Additionally, the role includes evaluating and updating the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) using BITSMTS tools as part of the change management process.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring & Discovery Tool Installation & Configuration:
Deploy and configure systems monitoring tools and discovery agents for
Windows Server (Physical & Virtual - Client & Dell Hardware)
Linux (RHEL & Oracle Linux) (Physical & Virtual - Client & Dell Hardware)
IBM AIX (IBM Power Platform)
Client-UX (HPE Integrity Platform)
VMware ESXi Hypervisor
MPE (HP3000 Emulator running on Linux)
Ensure tools are continuously operable and provide real-time visibility into infrastructure performance.
Integrate monitoring solutions with high-availability tools to support business continuity.
Configuration Management & Change Control (BITSMTS Tools):
Utilize BITSMTS tools to manage change control processes and updates.
Regularly evaluate and update the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to reflect accurate system configurations.
Ensure that all infrastructure changes are documented and comply with IT governance standards.
Work closely with change management teams to validate and test configuration changes before deployment.
Compliance & SOx Controls:
Ensure full compliance with SOx regulations and internal IT security policies.
Audit, manage, and document systems monitoring configurations for compliance reporting.
Implement automated alerts for non-compliance detection and resolution.

Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

The Electrical Controls and Monitoring System (ECMS) Specialist will be responsible for the pre-commissioning and commissioning of the project's plant ECMS. They will be responsible for ensuring the ECMS scope will be completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all project safety, quality and design standards. The candidate for this position should have a strong knowledge in the testing and operation of HV/MV/LV electrical utility, distribution and utilization power systems as well as AC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPSs), battery chargers, Adjustable Speed Drive Systems (ASDSs), substation annunciators, power capacitor banks, etc via a plant-wide EMCS. #LI-SP1

• Reviews electrical 'Single Line Diagrams', Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) "Logic Diagrams", ECMS/Protective Fiber Optic Patching Schedule and all 'ECMS related documentation' to fully understand the project ECMS pre-commissioning and commissioning scope.

• Reviews and provides ECMS input on project electrical engineering and supplier design/documentation as required through the pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of the project.

• Assesses the installation and network infrastructure of ECMS supplier packages to ensure project compliance and monitors performance through the pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of the project.

• Works directly under the direction of the Lead Electrical CSU Engineer and works with electrical CSU supervisors/technicians to complete all ECMS activities through the pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, operation and final handover phases of the project.

• Works with the ECMS 'home' office engineering group and ECMS supplier field representatives to help resolve ECMS issues as required during the pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of the project.

• Responsible to assist in validating protection setting and testing microprocessor protection relays, troubleshoot any relay logic and mis-operations.

• Prepares all requisite pre-commissioning and commissioning ECMS testing documentation, ensuring its completion and submission via Smart Completions for the purposes of start-up, operation, and final handover

• University/B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering plus 10 years of experience or 15 years of equivalent industry experience in lieu of a degree.

• A strong knowledge of testing ECMS systems with electrical utility and large plant power systems via various type of IEC 61850 communication protocols, such as Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS), Generic Object-Oriented Substation Event (GOOSE), Modbus TCP/IP and Profinet communication.

• A strong knowledge of the IEC 61850 network architectures both (Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) and High-Availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR).

• A strong knowledge in the functionality and operation of HV (138kV) / MV (34.5kV, 13.8kV, 4.16kV) / LV (600V, 480V) utility and large plant power systems and equipment, particularly on ABB, GE and SEL microprocessor protection relays.

• Experience in download and upload IED Capability Description (ICD) files using various configuration tools.

• Experience in fiber optic/CAT connection troubleshooting and verification of fiber optic patching schedule.

• Experience on an LNG construction site, especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast, is preferred.

• Experience in the design and operation of LNG facilities is preferred.

• Heavy industrial 'direct hire' construction experience with the type of work to be undertaken in a lump-sum/turn-key environment is preferred.

• Collaborates well in a team environment and able to adapt to change.

• Effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.

Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).

Description
As a Junior Systems Administrator, you'll manage user accounts, maintain the security posture of 3 environments and monitor the performance and health of the systems and data-processing applications. You'll provide your customers insight into their network through monitoring and performance management.

• Conduct/gather, compile, cleanse, validate, and analyze data sets to support modeling and structural analysis activities
• Conduct research of systems, data flows, techniques, technologies, and tools relevant to modeling and analysis activities
• Prepare documentation to include technical reports and slides detailing assumptions, technical approaches, and findings
• Assist in defining data requirements
• Assist in the design, conducts, and evaluation of models and relationships of results to operational benchmarks

• 3+ years of experience with system administration for U.S. Government customers
• Experience with maintaining and administering virtual machines, including Windows and Linux
• Experience administering servers in AWS environments
• Experience with maintaining system compliance and accreditation
• Experience with setting up and configuring system monitoring tools such as Nagios, Splunk, or Elastic
• Experience with troubleshooting technical issues in custom software
• Experience coordinating larger-scale systems administration efforts across multiple technical teams or organizations
• HS diploma or GED
• Ability to obtain a IAT Level II certification within 180 days of start date

• Experience with system state management tools, such as Ansible for Linux and Desired State Configuration (DSC) for Windows
