At the clinical and administrative direction of the MRI Supervisor, the MRI Patient Coordinator establishes, oversees, and coordinates MRI patients and procedures for efficient operation of MRI services. Responsibilities include interacting collaboratively with radiologists, MRI staff, and other sectional supervisors to facilitate the day-to-day functions of the MRI suite, assuring smooth patient workflow in MRI suite, working closely with film library in obtaining pertinent films, duplicating films, and receiving/sending prior studies. Qualifications: High School graduate. Graduate of a medical secretarial school preferred. Minimum of one(1) year in a healthcare setting preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred; class attendance required within six months of date of hire required if no prior knowledge. Basic computer skills (Microsoft functions) required. Clinical Coordinator responsibilities include assisting Manager in the following areas: overseeing MRI Department
daily operations and staff development; staff schedules; Kronos; organization and scheduling of affiliated MRI student
programs; quality improvement initiatives; training in new imaging technologies, guidelines and protocols; case
review and lecture series; data entry and statistical reporting and patient education. Works with manager to plan ,
develop, and facilitate modality operations. Coordinates activities associated with and supports program needs to
meet accreditation requirements

13. Performs competencies and education as needed.
14. Acts as covering supervisor in the manager's absence.
15. Assists as needed throughout delivery network.

16. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the departments.

EDUCATION

Graduate of an Accredited MRI program. Bachelor's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Three years' experience in an acute care setting. Demonstration of potential for management and leadership by
previous experience and education. MR Safety officer (MRSO) required within 1 year.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Demonstrate effective leadership skill. Certification In Specialty Area, B-Cen, Required Within Two Years Of
Occupying Position.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

ARRT MRI required. MRSO within one year of hire. BLS Certification required.

• Operate MRI machines to capture high-quality images of internal body structures, ensuring precise imaging for accurate diagnosis.
• Prepare patients for MRI procedures by explaining the process, obtaining medical histories, and addressing any concerns or contraindications.
• Position patients accurately on the MRI table to ensure optimal imaging of the targeted area while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, including screening for metal implants and other contraindications, to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Adjust MRI machine settings such as field strength, pulse sequences, and imaging parameters based on the specific diagnostic requirements.
• Monitor and assess the quality of MRI images during and after the scanning process to ensure clarity and diagnostic value.
• Identify and correct imaging artifacts or distortions, troubleshooting issues to produce clear, usable images.
• Continuously monitor patients during the MRI scan for signs of discomfort or adverse reactions, providing support as needed.
• Administer intravenous contrast agents, following protocols for safe handling and patient monitoring during contrast-enhanced scans.
• Accurately document all imaging procedures, patient interactions, and any incidents or anomalies encountered during the scan.
• Work closely with radiologists to review imaging requirements, discuss findings, and provide additional imaging as needed.
• Follow infection control practices, including sterilization and cleaning of equipment and work areas, to maintain a hygienic environment.
• Ensure accurate and confidential management of patient records and imaging data, adhering to HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
• Performs quality assurance testing as assigned.
• Obtains and completes mandatory department CEUs and in-services.
• Maintains CPR certification.

• ARRT (MR) certification or registry-eligible (ARRT (R) preferred with MR experience)
• Current state licensure (if applicable)
• CPR/BLS certification
• Minimum of (1-2) years of MRI experience preferred (new grads welcome to apply)
