At Valley Regional Hospital, patients are the center of our coordinated care system and right now we have an opening for a MRI Patient Coordinator/Lung Cancer Screener, to join our team in the Diagnostic Center.
The primary responsibility of the MRI PC is:
* Review orders for accuracy prior to ordering entry for radiology studies
* Assist the Medical Imaging Technologist in providing care to Inpatients, Outpatients, and the Emergency Department.
* By transporting patients,
* Stocking rooms with supplies,
* Double identify patients and screen for accuracy of date, time, & procedure.
* Assisting tech with the positioning of patients,
* Utilizing multiple software and systems to ensure accurate and timely documentation of medical record information and imaging studies
* Scan Providers notes and Consent forms into medical records and PACS
* Utilize closed loop communication for all interdepartmental handoffs of patient care
The primary responsibilities of overseeing the Lung Cancer Screening Program involve a variety of responsibilities aimed at enabling the early detection of lung cancer to save lives. Key responsibilities include:
* Guiding patients through the lung cancer screening process,
* Collaborating with healthcare professionals from multiple specialties,
* Promoting community awareness
* Participating in the development of patient education
* Ensuring that timely recommendations and/or follow-up care are relayed to patients and ordering providers.
An ideal candidate would have the following qualifications.
* Medical terminology recommended
* Working in a hospital (or scheduling) setting for 1-2 years is recommended.
* Good communication skills
* Compassionate
* Self-motivated and a strong work ethic.

- Operate MRI machines to capture high-quality images of internal body structures, ensuring precise imaging for accurate diagnosis.
- Prepare patients for MRI procedures by explaining the process, obtaining medical histories, and addressing any concerns or contraindications.
- Position patients accurately on the MRI table to ensure optimal imaging of the targeted area while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, including screening for metal implants and other contraindications, to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Adjust MRI machine settings such as field strength, pulse sequences, and imaging parameters based on the specific diagnostic requirements.
- Monitor and assess the quality of MRI images during and after the scanning process to ensure clarity and diagnostic value.
- Identify and correct imaging artifacts or distortions, troubleshooting issues to produce clear, usable images.
- Continuously monitor patients during the MRI scan for signs of discomfort or adverse reactions, providing support as needed.
- Administer intravenous contrast agents, following protocols for safe handling and patient monitoring during contrast-enhanced scans.
- Accurately document all imaging procedures, patient interactions, and any incidents or anomalies encountered during the scan.
- Work closely with radiologists to review imaging requirements, discuss findings, and provide additional imaging as needed.
- Follow infection control practices, including sterilization and cleaning of equipment and work areas, to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Ensure accurate and confidential management of patient records and imaging data, adhering to HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
- Performs quality assurance testing as assigned.
- Obtains and completes mandatory department CEUs and in-services.
- Maintains CPR certification.
Annual salary range: $29.75 - $42.50

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Two years post high school education training in an AMA approved School of radiology, with current registry with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required. Current Indiana Radiologic Technologist license required. BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers certification required. MRI certified with the ARRT required or MRI registry eligible (with ARRT MRI certification within one (1) year of employment) required. Previous experience in radiology and training and education in Magnetic Resonance preferred.
