The College of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks an accomplished music educator, teacher educator, and scholar with a background in elementary-general music (a focus on classroom music for all students in grades PK to 8) as well as in general music for secondary students (grades 6-12) to serve on the Music Education faculty. This full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor will commence August 13, 2026.

The Music Education area is a comprehensive department that includes Bachelor of Music Education, Master of Music Education, a Master of Music Education plus initial licensure track, and a PhD in Music Education. With 75+ undergraduate and 20+ graduate students, the department strives to be a nexus of teacher education scholarship and practice within an R1 research institution.
The College of Music, founded in 1920, is recognized as one of the top comprehensive music schools in the country. The College of Music offers seven degree programs in over 28 fields of study, at the bachelor's level through the doctorate. **What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be**
The final assignment of duties will be based on the expertise of the candidate. Teach and create innovative curricular offerings based on opportunities and needs within the department, which may include: teach undergraduate classes for music education majors in the area of candidate's specialization (elementary-general music and secondary-general music); supervise student teachers; teach graduate classes at the master's and/or doctoral level based on areas of expertise and the readiness of the candidate; supervise graduate research including PhD dissertations; advise graduate students and serve on graduate committees. Teaching in the summer is optional and may be available as an additional appointment. Participate in active recruitment of undergraduate, master's, and PhD students. Achieve a high profile of professional activities including maintaining an active research agenda, presentation at major conferences, and publication in peer-reviewed journals. Contribute to service within the department, College, and to local and national professional organizations; develop a mutually supportive relationship with local K-12 music educators.

This position will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track).

The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance ( SMTD ) at Colorado State Universityempowers students to create, collaborate, innovate, and inspire. Through teaching, creative artistry, research, advocacy, and service,we elevate arts education. SMTD has 46 tenured and tenure-track faculty as well as 55 contract, continuing and adjunct faculty. There are currently over 550 students in SMTD , with 375 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in residential and online music degree programs.

For over 90 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware has impacted thousands of lives across Delaware. We are the largest licensed provider of childcare in Delaware and the only statewide Boys & Girls Club in the nation.

Each and everyday girls and boys are left to find their own recreation and companionship. An increasing number of kids are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to have a place in their community where they can go. Clubs provide a safe haven for youth, allow them to meet with friends and be a part of positive peer groups. Club programs teach life skills, conflict resolution and focus on the development of character. Clubs also provide members with positive role models and a nurturing environment that help improve decision-making skills.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the IPT (Impact Programs Team) and Music Studio Program Director, the Jr. Youth Development Professional is responsible for assisting with the effective operation of a quality school-age childcare program that complies with current DeltaCare rules for school-age centers.

The Music Studio program offers education for 6 to 18-year-old children and teens in music production, videography, editing content for YouTube and Instagram, live sound engineering, studio engineering, DJ lessons, and livestreaming. Individuals in this role will be trained to deliver music programming to youth at the clubs and in-school programs, in addition to DJ & AV support at special events.

Essential Functions
  • Perform all job responsibilities in compliance with current state licensing requirements for school age childcare centers; address non-compliance issues as needed or directed.
  • Assist Music Studio Program Director in effectively delivering a variety of age-appropriate programs and activities, which reflect Boys & Girls Club's five core program areas and Youth Development Strategy, for children ages 6 - 12 and teens ages 13-18.
  • Assist with filming and editing promotional and educational content for the MAVerick YouTube channel and Instagram page.
  • Support live sound engineering by helping with setup, operation, and breakdown of audio equipment for events.
  • Lead and run engaging programs such as a middle school gaming club and music production workshops.
  • Help ensure safe implementation of all programs and activities. This involves but is not limited to condition of equipment and facilities; age-appropriateness; ability levels; weather; appropriate use of equipment and supplies.
  • Present yourself as a positive role model for children at all times.
  • Consistently adhere to the policies and practices of BGCDE.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive identity and strong presence for the Boys & Girls Club in the community.
  • Consistently adhere to the policies and practices of Delaware STARS.
  • Assume other tasks, assignments and responsibilities as needed or directed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Sixteen (16) years of age or older to work at the club
  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older to work at middle schools and special events
  • Work permits are required for ALL employed minors under the age of 18 years of age.
  • Training or experience in one or more of the following: music, filming, video editing, DJing, visual arts (drawing or painting), graphic design, or marketing.
  • Background checks (under 18) and fingerprinting (over 18) required.
Specific Provisions for Individuals 16 and 17 years of age

Minors 16-17 years of age:
  • May not work more than twelve (12) hours in a combination of school & work per day
  • Must have at least eight (8) consecutive hours of non-work, non-school time in each 24-hour period
  • May not work more than five (5) hours continuously without a non-work period of at least 30 consecutive minutes.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS : Environmental and working conditions vary from indoors to outdoors; various meeting locations in and out of the Club; occasional statewide travel (e.g. training). Employees are subject to transfer from one department to another and from one club/school site to another as the needs of the organization change.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regularly speak clearly and hear the spoken word.
  • Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 25-75 pounds when preparing room for instruction is preferred, but not required.
  • Typically bends, stoops, walks and sometimes run on a regular basis while interacting with children in various activities throughout the day.
  • Maintain a high energy level.
  • Be comfortable working with children aged 5-14 in varying levels of physical activity.


Work Hours: School Year: Shifts scheduled with flexibility between Monday through Friday from 2:00PM to 8:00PM; 6-15 hours per week. Occasional Saturday hours requested but not required for special events.
