Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Power Systems Engineer to lead critical initiatives in grid modernization and renewable energy integration. This is a senior, fully remote role responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing advanced power system solutions that will shape the future of energy infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in power flow, stability, protection, and control systems, with a strong focus on renewable energy sources and smart grid technologies. Responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and analysis of complex power systems, including transmission and distribution networks.
- Developing strategies for integrating renewable energy sources (solar, wind) and energy storage systems into the grid.
- Performing detailed power flow, short circuit, and transient stability studies using industry-standard software.
- Designing and evaluating protection schemes and control strategies for modern power systems.
- Contributing to the development of grid modernization projects, including smart grid technologies, microgrids, and demand-side management.
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to a team of power systems engineers.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including project managers, software developers, and utility partners.
- Developing technical specifications, reports, and proposals for new projects and initiatives.
- Staying abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements in the power sector.
- Ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of power system operations.
- Conducting feasibility studies and techno-economic analyses for new power system solutions.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in power systems engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
- Expert proficiency in power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerWorld, ETAP, PSCAD).
- In-depth knowledge of power system planning, operation, protection, and control.
- Experience with renewable energy integration, energy storage systems, and smart grid technologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information effectively.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers.
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
