**Purpose Statement/Position Summary:** The research scientist will be responsible for supporting development and maintenance of population pharmacokinetic/dynamic analysis, simulation and dosing programs. The CHLA INSPIRE (Innovative Synergistic Pediatric Infection Research) laboratory group focuses on optimizing antibiotic therapies, especially for difficult to treat pathogens. Within INSPIRE, Drs. Neely and Gibson direct laboratories that primarily use the hollow fiber infection model (HFIM) to mimic human pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK-PD) in vitro to improve dosing strategies and select ideal combination therapies for pathogens. We use sophisticated mathematical and statistical models to interpret the data from the HFIM, mostly using R. Currently, we study bacterial pathogens (including non-tuberculous mycobacteria, Staph. aureus, Pseudomonas, Acinetobacter, Burkholderia cepacia) and viruses (CMV).
The primary objective of this role is to oversee other members of Dr. Neely's and Gibson's laboratories in the design and completion of experiments. Scientific work will be with the HFIM, as well as completing other microbiologic studies. Candidates must have expertise in basic bacterial culture and quantification techniques. Candidates who have prior HFIM experience and/or PK-PD data modeling experience will have a competitive advantage for this position, but such experience is not required.
Reporting to the directors, the Research Scientist will:
1. Develop, validate, and implement new or modified lab-developed methods, including the HFIM
2. Oversee and coordinate daily work of other lab members
3. For those with interest or skills in PK-PD modeling, contribute to development, refinement, and use of digital models fitted to experimental data
4. Contribute to the preparation, development, and publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, the Research Scientist may be expected to present their work at professional meetings when appropriate.
**Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:** 2+ years of post-graduate research experience with independently planning and implementing experiments.
+ The candidate should also have experience with mentoring and assisting other lab members.
+ Experience with planning and implementing experiments, bacterial culture, CFU assays, and MIC determination highly preferred.
+ Experience with mammalian cell culture, PCR, microscopy, and with supervising and assisting other lab members experience is highly preferred.
+ Prior experience with the hollow fiber system is a bonus, but not required, as we will train the successful candidate as needed. Similarly, prior PK-PD modeling experience and/or high comfort level with R are desirable but not required skills.

West Virginia University, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases at West Virginia University School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the clinical track at the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in Morgantown, WV. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will be actively involved in teaching medical students, Pediatric residents and internal medicine ID fellows. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.
Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (the employer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible to obtain a state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatric or pediatric/ internal medicine residency program and hold American Board of Pediatrics certification. Subsequent Pediatric subspecialty certification will be an expectation.
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases division has three full time faculty. The clinical responsibilities include a very active in-patient and ambulatory care program including outreach. The division is responsible for Antibiotic Stewardship and Infection Prevention in WVU Medicine Children's Hospital; opportunities exist to participate in WVU's Global Health and Tropical Medicine.
Our new 150 bed Children's Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. There is also a Birthing Center including a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.

Sanford Health has an opening for a BC/BE Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician to join the region's largest team of board certified, fellowship-trained pediatricians and pediatric
specialists.
* Outpatient clinic and inpatient consultant practice in the region's only Level II trauma Children's Hospital with 24/7 in-house coverage by pediatric hospitalist, NICU, and PICU teams
* Team currently consists of 2 MD's and 1 Nurse Practitioner
* Consultative service only with 24/7 call coverage approximately 1 week at a time
* Sanford Medical Center houses a 12 bed PICU with additional flex beds if needed. Floor is shared with 24 bed pediatric unit, and 40-bed Level III NICU.
* Collaborative relationships between primary and pediatric subspecialty services including Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology, Child Abuse Team, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, and Rheumatology
* Support from the largest team of more than 65 board certified, fellowship-trained pediatricians and pediatric specialists in more than 25 medical specialties, including general surgery, orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery
* Sanford Health Fargo serves a large catchment area of 1.2 million throughout ND, MN and parts of SD and MT
* Joint appointment as clinical faculty with Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science teaching medical students, family medicine and pediatric residents
* Sanford Health Fargo is a Pediatric Subspecialty Loan Repayment Program (PSLRP) eligible site.
