As a Nursing Assistant at MercyOne, you are responsible for assisting with direct patient care as well as other work on the unit, which supports the patient environment in accordance with MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center policy and procedure. Work will include components of direct patient care, nutrition, observation, documentation, transportation, and general maintenance of the patient environment. Adheres to the principles of the Code of Conduct and the mission of MercyOne in all aspects of job performance.
**Schedule:**
12-hour shifts; weekend and holiday rotation
**General Requirements:**
+ Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
+ Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served, in accordance with MercyOne standards.
+ Assists and prioritizes activities of daily living and other cares with the guidance and delegation of the RN.
+ Obtains and records vital signs - temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, oximetry, and pain score; height/weight; intake/output; and records the information appropriately, accurately and in a timely manner with notification to the nurses as needed.
+ Maintains knowledge and demonstrates competency in the use of patient equipment i.e., manual and automatic blood pressure machine, pulse oximeters, bladder scanner, restraints, electronic scales, gait belts, intermittent pneumatic compression stockings (SCD), heating pads, ice bags, wall suction set-up and Yankeur suction, placement of telemetry, mechanical lifts, bed scales, bed and chair alarms, and personal alarms.
+ Must have a general working knowledge of computers and department specific software (i.e. HealthStream, internet, etc.)
+ Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
+ Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of MercyOne and Trinity Health.
**Education:**
+ Must have a high school diploma/GED or must be at least 16 years old and actively pursuing high school diploma.
+ Must have successfully completed at least 75-credit hours of a Nursing Assistant Program from an accredited school but does not need to be on the Iowa registry. If no credits have been received, verification of employment as a CNA and must be state registered. Or has successfully completed the MercyOne Patient Care Tech In-Training Program. Or is a nursing student who has completed a Med/Surg clinical rotation.
+ Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) is required within 3 months of hire date.
+ Mandatory Reporter is required within 3 months of hire date.

Unit Bio:
R5 cares for patients with chronic multi-system disease processes with an emphasis on nephrology and urology, providing specialized patient and family care to renal transplant recipients and living donors. Patient populations include adults and older adults with common diagnostic categories including Acute Kidney Injury, End-Stage Renal Disease, Diabetes, Infectious Diseases, Urological disorders and Urological surgeries.
Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurses and according to defined policies and procedures, performs various service duties and technical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment. Consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific patient populations is required.
The Certified Nursing Assistant - Acute Care role assists in the administration of nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect care duties.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
2. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Certified Nursing Assistant required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.

For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Clinical Nursing Assistants (CNA):
- 0-1 years of experience eligible for $2,500 (full time)
- 1+ years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
- Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time CNA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
- Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.
Unit Bio:
R5 cares for patients with chronic multi-system disease processes with an emphasis on nephrology and urology, providing specialized patient and family care to renal transplant recipients and living donors. Patient populations include adults and older adults with common diagnostic categories including Acute Kidney Injury, End-Stage Renal Disease, Diabetes, Infectious Diseases, Urological disorders and Urological surgeries.
Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurses and according to defined policies and procedures, performs various service duties and technical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment. Consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific patient populations is required.
The Certified Nursing Assistant - Acute Care role assists in the administration of nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect care duties.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
2. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Certified Nursing Assistant required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
3. Experience: CNA experience 0-6 months. On-the-job experience provided.
