The ideal candidate will make things more secure by improving existing security measures and/or come up with new ones while providing a seamless experience to our end-users, support teams and MSSP. Qualified candidates will have a background in cybersecurity or network engineering.

What You'll Do:

• Primary goal will be to work with stakeholders and Managed Security Service Provider to troubleshoot issues with firewall;
• Strong functional knowledge on VPN, zone/layer 7 firewall and routing and switching protocol;
• Assist with the design of Secure Architecture of the network;
• Integrate security tasks and activities into system development methodologies (e.g. planning, design, implementation, operations, maintenance, and disposal);
• Perform validation of security controls to ensure consistency with industry standard methodologies; and
• Identify and verify security requirements are met throughout the process.
• Prepare and document secure system development standard operating procedures and protocols;
• Perform vendor technical solution acceptance verification and validation;
• Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks;
• Assess gaps in existing policy and propose amendments to existing policy or new policy to address these gaps;
• Participate in the development and implementation of enterprise-level technical standards and procedural directives and other guidance materials;
• Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further network security enhancement;
• Participates in the development, implementation and review of security controls for the network under their purview;
• Coordinates with Infrastructure owners to resolve security issues through system lifecycle; and
• Provides guidance and support to self-testing, security control assessment, preparation of remediation plans, and development of continuous monitoring plans.

• Minimum of 8 years' experience (preferred); (At least 5 years of experience with cybersecurity or information assurance);
• BS degree in Computer Science or related field (required); MS degree (preferred);
• Engineer, implement, and monitor security measures for the protection of the network and critical assets using Network Firewalls alongside IPS/IDS;
• Experience in managing playbooks for security Automation and Orchestration using a XSOAR tool;
• Experience in managing policies for CASB using Palo Alto networks CASB;
• Experience in managing remote access solution and provide reports using Panorama and Splunk;
• Strong understanding of PKI infrastructure;
• Detailed technical knowledge of network, load balancers, DMZ, VMware from a security standpoint;
• Experience providing O&M and engineering support to complex, mission-critical systems; and
• Experience with network security, networking technologies, and network monitoring tools.

NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER

SpaceX is looking for a Network Security Engineer with expertise of network security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, etc.). This employee will be a member of the Security Engineering team within the larger Information Technology department. The ideal candidate will be flexible, excel at multi-tasking, and flourish in a fast-paced and challenging environment. This person should be a self-starter, self-motivator and possess the ingenuity to excel in this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement network security tools

• Produce threat models and assess risk around existing configurations

• Provide subject matter expertise on network security, firewalls and industry best practices

• Manage firewall configurations within the SpaceX enterprise network based on operational requirements

• Analyze and proactively come up with creative network solutions for operational needs that present security challenges

• Document and formalize security processes

• Manage and maintain network security systems by applying system patches and other periodic maintenance tasks

• Work with other SpaceX teams to determine functional needs, develop secure architectures, and communicate security best practices and policies

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 3+ years of network security experience; OR 5+ years of network security experience in lieu of a degree

• 1+ years of experience securing networks, IT infrastructure, applications, endpoints, and/or APIs

• 1+ years of experience hardening Windows, MacOS, and/or Linux operating systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Strong understanding of network security technologies, their operation and limitations, including:

• Firewalls (Palo Alto and Juniper)

• Network IDS/IPS solutions

• Network monitoring solutions (NDR)

• Switch/router ACLs

• Network access control solutions

• IPSec and TLS based VPNs

• Web application firewalls

• Email security

• Logging and alerting with SIEMs

• Python programming and automation ability

• Familiarity with networking protocols and the OSI model

• Experience testing and implementing changes in a production environment

• Adept at learning new technologies and systems

• Strong self-starting and time-management skills

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This role requires you to be onsite. Hybrid or remote work will not be considered.

• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:

Network Security Engineer: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
