Duration: 6-12 months
**Frequent travel to the client offices in Westwood, CA and to sporting venues around LA/downtown will be required.
Summary: We are hiring senior -level network architects (L4 through Principal) to lead design and delivery of multi site Cisco Software Defined Access (SD Access) solutions at scale. You will set architecture direction, drive complex deployments across distributed campuses, and mentor engineers while partnering closely with security and operations. The ideal candidate holds an active CCIE and demonstrates deep, hands on expertise across Cisco routing/switching, Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly Cisco DNA Center), Cisco ISE, Cisco FTD firewalls, and Cisco SD WAN, with expert level command of BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and related enterprise routing protocols.

The Network Services team within Infrastructure Services holds a critical role in managing, maintaining, and developing UCSF's network infrastructure, particularly ensuring reliable technical accessibility for individuals engaged in vital medical and health research work. Their core responsibilities include providing secure internet and network services, managing IT services, and maintaining data systems. They support end-users, manage system updates, repairs, and connectivity issues, and play an essential role in troubleshooting network issues, optimizing performance, and implementing protocols. They also oversee software and hardware updates and manage data storage, disaster recovery, and network resilience. Beyond this, Network Services provides specialized technical support to other employees in the organization, with a focus on those involved in medical and health research.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, in one or more of the following fields: computer science, computer information systems, etc.
- 7 to 10+ years of Expert experience in one of the following fields: network engineering or network architecture.
- Certification:
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or equivalent
- AWS Solutions Architect - Professional or equivalent
- Advanced working knowledge of LAN, WAN, MAN, wireless, VoIP, cloud networking protocols, OSPF, BGP, IP, Multicast, QOS, MPLS, VPLS, IPv4, IPV6, VxLan and spine-and-leaf architecture.
- Advanced experience architecting scalable, diverse, and complex networks. Expert understanding of server architecture, system administration, and security. Experience working with a software development lifecycle (SDLC) model.

The Network Technologies Business Unit currently has an opening for a Network Architect to support a Department of State (DoS) Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT) program. This position is for leading the re-architecture of a large and complex network infrastructure. It requires hands-on expertise, leadership of engineers, and engagement with senior customer leadership.
This program provides transparent, interconnected systems and security supporting the DoS in successfully carrying out its U.S. foreign policy mission. DT provides enterprise architecture design, engineering, operations and maintenance support services for desktops, servers, networks, firewalls, and enterprise applications across the Department. Program is named "Vanguard 2025" and is an IT consolidation consisting of the Department's servers, mainframes, network devices, network perimeter, anti-virus engineering, public key infrastructure (PKI)/biometrics/encryption, monitoring tools, telephony, mobile computing platform, virtual environment, and enclave design/security engineering.
Work is performed at the customer's location in Springfield, VA. Position does allow for some remote work after training.
