General Summary:

The Network Security Architect is responsible for the development and standardization of comprehensive security strategies to protect the organization's network infrastructure, develop/test proper identification, and response procedures for Ritter Operations team. Job Summary

Your New Role.

The Network Security Architect is a critical technical role responsible for ensuring the secure design and compliance of WBD enterprise architecture to effectively and securely support the organization in meeting specific business technology needs. This candidate will be considered a subject matter expert in the area of Network Security and Architecture. Your Role Accountabilities.

  • Conduct regular security audits against the organization's global network infrastructure for signs of vulnerabilities, intrusions, and ensure the efficacy of security measures in place.

  • Implement security controls, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures.

  • Work with network administrators and other IT stakeholders to ensure network security designs meet established standards.

Qualifications & Experience.

  • Must be proficient in networking protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/SFTP, DNS, SNMP, SMTP/POP3/IMAP, and LDAP, along with their associated security measures and vulnerabilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Development and delivery of a comprehensive information security and privacy program for the college. The program is college-wide, and includes information in electronic, print, and other formats. The purposes of this program include: to assure that information created, acquired or maintained by the college, and its authorized users, is used in accordance with its intended purpose; to protect college information and its infrastructure from external or internal threats; and to assure that the college complies with contractual, statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, security, and privacy.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop an information security architecture to protect the colleges informational assets by ensuring that the IT architecture, plans, plans, controls, procedures, policies, and standards are aligned with the colleges strategic initiatives and security strategies.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of an education and training program on information security and privacy matters for employees, other authorized users, and students.
  • Provide technical expertise in the design and evaluation of network security devices including firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), email protection, endpoint protection, and security incident management.
  • Work with campus-designated FERPA, Records Access, Red Flag, and HIPPA-privacy Officers on compliance issues as necessary. Prepare and submit required reports to external agencies.
  • Investigate, analyze, and report on all security events, incidents, and intrusions. Track incidents through log analysis, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Perform network security assessments and review for evidence of vulnerability or compromise, and coordinate implementation of security solutions.
  • Recommend methods for vulnerability detection and remediation, and oversee vulnerability testing.
  • Serve as the colleges expert technical resource for external audits, survey requests, and forensic analysis on security/privacy matters.
  • Design, maintain, and test college information technology disaster recovery plan.
  • Researches and provides technical advice for purchasing of hardware, software, and peripheral equipment and technology implementation projects.
  • Researches and monitors the latest trends, best practices, and network security developments.
  • Lead security projects throughout their life cycle, including conceptualization, requirement definition, procurement, integration, and implementation.
  • Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of College policies and procedures relating to information technology.
  • Working knowledge of and experience in the policy and regulatory environment of information security, especially in higher education.
  • Knowledge of information security vulnerability assessment to include code, application and infrastructure weaknesses.
  • Knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) design, administration, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of information security controls like NIST, COBIT, ISO 27001, or other control frameworks.
  • Experience in IT risk management with a focus on security, performance, and reliability.

  • Completion of one (1) UNIX/Linux, Cisco or Microsoft Certified System Engineer CORE exams or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.
  • Must pass background check.

General Summary:

The Network Security Architect is responsible for the development and standardization of comprehensive security strategies to protect the organization’s network infrastructure, develop/test proper identification, and response procedures for Ritter Operations team. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, security technologies, and industry best practices.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Designs and implements secure network architectures, including firewalls, VPNs, Service Provider DDOS, intrusion detection systems (IDS), log management, general service provider access/infrastructure security suites, and other security devices;
  • Conducts risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies;
  • Develops security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
  • Collaborates with Architecture, Engineering, and operational teams to integrate security into system design and development processes;
  • Establishes standards for monitoring network traffic for suspicious activity and respond to security incidents promptly;
  • Conduct red/blue team exercises;
  • Stays current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technology trends in the cybersecurity landscape;
  • Conducts regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential risks and threats;
  • Provides technical guidance and operational and engineering groups regarding network security practices;
  • Documents network security configurations, processes, and incident response procedures;
  • Provides support and final escalation for operational and engineering groups;
  • Establishes lifecycles and budgets for all security equipment and products;
  • Monitors baseline of firmware for security risks across all supported hardware;
  • Leads change control by reviewing changes for technical accuracy and risk analysis;
  • Partners with external vendors on solution architecture and procurement;
  • Provides leadership to identify, manage, and resolve risks in a team environment;
  • Works independently with little supervision on day-to-day tasks, receiving general instructions on new assignments;
  • Travels to project areas, business related events, and other Ritter Communications locations as required;
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of firewalls, preferably Cisco (Meraki, ASA) and Palo Alto;
  • Expert knowledge of DDOS platforms and how they apply to Service Providers, preferably Deepfield;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the SOC2, NIST, or ISO 27001 Cyber Security Framework and associated best practices;
  • Expert knowledge of packet traces, Sflow/Cflow;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security best practices in multi-tenant environments;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management for infrastructure as well as CPE equipment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical stakeholders;
  • Adept at strategic thinking, time management, and problem-solving;
  • Ability to travel for business requirements; must possess a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.

Education and Experience:

BA or BS in information security, engineering, or related area or a minimum of 5 years in the service provider industry, with at least two of the related certifications.

Certifications or equivalent:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
  • Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

Experience in creating and maintaining project plans highly . Experience in cyber security and related infrastructure technologies, cloud-based infrastructure, and software defined networks required.
