+ Support triage, troubleshooting, and repair of global production network elements.

Basic Qualifications:

+ Ability to consistently execute MOPs for network and server troubleshooting, triage, and repair.
+ Understanding of common server components and software, including Linux OS, BIOS and kernel knowledge

+ Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Linux/Unix Shell.

We are looking for a Network Engineer to join our Viasat Government group! In this exciting role, you will be responsible for supporting the design, maintenance, and modernization of a critical global satellite communications system! You will be updating the network equipment hardware and software in both a lab and production environment. This includes auditing equipment health, identifying faulted units, troubleshooting faults, ordering, tracking, installing, and configuring replacement parts, as well as identifying and patching IA vulnerabilities. Your duties will include making design changes to datacenter racks to modernize the existing equipment and/or replace end of life parts. You will also be working with vendors to get quotes for new parts for the system. Part of your duties may require travel to deploy new datacenter racks and/or perform maintenance on those racks. Other engineering support duties may include analysis and remediation of networking hardware, operating system, and software security vulnerabilities and documentation of the remediation process.
**Pay Rate:** $70 - $5 an hour

+ Advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS, Arista EOS, and Palo Alto with hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting router, switch, and firewall deployments.
**Routing, Switching, and Security**
+ Advanced knowledge of standard networking protocols including VXLAN, TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, GRE and OSPF, and IPSEC for use in VPN implementations.
+ Knowledge proficiency with Cisco IOS and NX-OS, Arista EOS, and PAN-OS with hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, and firewalls.
+ Ability to configure and support load balancers (F5/Avi) and proxy servers.
**Network Design, Implementation, and Observability**
+ Design and implement configuration solutions to meet customer requests.
+ Configure network hardware based on templates and networking best practices.
+ Implement network performance improvements based on understanding of network trends and patterns.
+ Build and maintain configuration templates guided by reference architectures and networking best practices.
+ Create tooling and correlate data from network instrumentation.
