What You'll Do:

OCC is looking for a Network Engineering Manager to join the team. This dynamic role combines operational and strategic responsibilities, blending technical and managerial duties, including HR direct report, vendor and customer interactions. Key responsibilities include overseeing network service and delivery across various platforms, such as Cisco ACI, Checkpoint, F5 and hybrid LAN/Cloud (AWS) environments. The goal is to ensure the team consistently deliver a high-quality, stable network experience for customers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Experience building cloud infrastructure in environments such as AWS (preferred), Azure, Google, or similar

• Experience using Agile Methodology

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Position responsibilities: Lead the design, implementation and maintenance activities for both on-premise and cloud-based network solutions, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, datacenter, wireless networks and telephony systems Lead the implementation of network management and monitoring tools and processes to ensure system observability and uptime Develop and implement standard operating procedures and configuration standards to improve operational efficiency Manage cloud connectivity, ensuring secure and seamless access to cloud services including AWS and Azure Identify, research, and evaluate emerging network technologies to meet current and future technology needs Ensure scalable and efficient network infrastructure that supports current and future business needs; regularly assess capacity, performance and utilization trends Oversee incident management and troubleshooting including root cause analysis, resolution documentation and post-incident reviews Manage network-related projects including system deployments and upgrades, office buildouts/expansion and hardware refreshes Coordinate across Technology groups such as Data Center and Cloud Engineering, Security, DevOps, Enterprise Applications and Enterprise Engineering to ensure network strategies align with Technology and firm initiatives Manage relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and liaise with internal stakeholders Evaluate and procure hardware, licensing and support agreements for networking equipment and systems. Participate in budget development and management including forecasting and tracking expenses as well as variance reporting Serve as direct supervisor and mentor to direct reports to foster skill development and career growth Provide day-to-day supervision of direct reports, ensure compliance with assigned work hours and monitor for compliance with all firm and department policies. Manage staffing coverage, review and process time logs/time off requests Support business professional development and continued educational opportunities In collaboration with immediate supervisor and CN HR, participate in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, termination and other employee lifecycle events All other duties as assigned or required Skills and experience : Required: After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required Ability to travel, as required 5+ years experience in network engineering and support Senior candidates must have 7+ years applicable experience in the field with 2+ years of exempt/management experience in relevant roles Strong understanding of Cisco LAN/WAN architecture and routing protocols Strong understanding of Cisco data center networking Comprehensive knowledge of Wi-Fi standards, enterprise wireless solutions, RF optimization, and troubleshooting Knowledge of hybrid cloud architecture and cloud-to-on-premise integrations Understanding of firewall concepts and configuration Preferred : Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline Experience managing and mentoring technical teams Experience deploying and managing Cisco SD-WAN Experience with Aruba Wireless and Clearpass and/or Meraki wireless Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Prisma Access/Remote Networks Working knowledge of AWS networking concepts Experience with Infrastructure as Code methodology and deployment Competencies : Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and stakeholders Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work effectively under pressure High level of organizational skills Cooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. EOE. The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $155,000 - $205,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate. Senior level candidates may be considered for this position and would be eligible for a higher salary range based on experience. • Network Design & Management: Oversee global WAN operations to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance. Lead the deployment and optimization of SD-WAN solutions. Manage the implementation and maintenance of complex networking systems using advanced routing protocols like BGP and OSPF.
• Cloud Networking: Design and manage connectivity between on-premises networks and public cloud environments. Establish and maintain networking in cloud platforms, ensuring efficient integration with enterprise infrastructure.
• Traffic Management: Implement and refine QoS policies to prioritize critical application performance. Monitor and address network performance issues like latency and bandwidth utilization.
• Team Leadership: Lead a distributed team of network engineers, fostering teamwork and accountability. Manage resources and assignments to align with organizational goals. Mentor team members and facilitate their professional growth.
• Strategic Planning: Develop a strategic roadmap for network engineering that aligns with business objectives. Assess and integrate emerging network technologies to enhance system capabilities.
• Operational Excellence: Maintain network uptime and security, adhering to industry standards and compliance requirements. Establish robust monitoring and disaster recovery strategies.
• Collaboration: Work closely with IT leadership and external vendors to align network strategies with business needs. Handle complex network issues and act as an escalation point during outages.
• Project Management: Manage network-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE) preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of network engineering experience, with 4-6 years in a managerial role.
• Extensive experience with advanced routing protocols, Wi-Fi optimization, and managing global WAN and SD-WAN deployments.
• Proven track record in setting up and managing cloud networking in Azure and/or AWS.
• Experience managing network teams across multiple locations and strong leadership skills.
