- Support physicians in care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients, including assistance during c-sections and family education on infant and self-care.
- Adhere to current medication administration standards and maintain accurate documentation.
- Maintain professional interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor fetal heart rate and uterine activity using continuous electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and palpation, providing interventions aligned with AWHONN and ACOG guidelines.

- Recognize and respond promptly to obstetrical emergencies.
- Engage in departmental projects and quality improvement initiatives.

Education: Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Licensure & Certifications: Active RN license or eligible compact license; current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications; AWHONN Intermediate EFM; STABLE certification within 12 months as required.
Experience: Minimum one year recent Labor and Delivery/Newborn Nursery experience preferred.
Professional Requirements: Maintain regulatory compliance, punctuality, and adherence to organizational ethics and goals. Communicate courteously and respectfully with patients, guests, and staff.

Our postpartum/nursery unit has 11 rooms with a 1:6 (3 couplets) patient ratio.
Our nurses in this department care for postpartum moms, newborns, post op GYN patients, and occasional antepartum patients (such as hyperemesis or pyelonephritis).
Additionally, these nurses attend deliveries, provide 1:1 care for infants requiring additional support and prepare infants for transfer when a higher level of care is required.

- Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
- Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
- Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
- Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
- Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
