We are seeking a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineer to join its Inspection Technology Unit (ITU) within the Inspection Technical Support Division.

  • Minimum of 20 years of professional experience in asset inspection and non-destructive testing technologies, including hands-on involvement in inline inspection operations and data interpretation.

  • NDT Level III certification in at least two inspection methods.

  • Ability to apply international codes and standards relevant to inspection operations, such as API, ASME, and AWS.

  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of pipeline inspection principles, including pigging operations, pipeline cleaning, and inline inspection tool validation techniques.

  • Experience identifying and analyzing damage mechanisms detected via inline inspection, such as corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, weld anomalies, dents, and cracks.

  • Familiar with high-resolution inspection technologies used in inline tools, including magnetic flux leakage, ultrasonic testing, and electromagnetic acoustic transducer systems.

  • Capability to analyze inline inspection results and provide technical support for run/rerun decisions, dig verification campaigns, and fitness-for-service assessments.

  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning integration for predictive pipeline integrity assessments is preferred.

  • Proficiency in interpreting inspection data using advanced analytics software.

NDT Technician Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections, evaluate equipment conditions, repair requirements, remaining life of equipment, and document in a formal reporting process.
  • Possess and continually develop expertise in predictive maintenance technologies relating to inspection processes such as NDT techniques, visual inspection techniques, material thickness measurements, infrared thermography, alloy analyzers, etc. Utilize these technologies to improve equipment reliability.
  • Work with Engineers on PSM implementation, i.e., work practices, design and repair standards, management of change, etc.
  • Develop and/or support all aspects of the Mechanical Integrity program for the site.
  • Perform QA inspections of new and or repaired parts and equipment. Document as required.
  • Provide independent quality control of in house and outside contract inspection, repair, and fabricator services.
  • Assist in tracking metrics and generating the monthly reports for area of responsibility.
  • Assist maintenance and operations personnel by troubleshooting and resolving equipment problems as necessary.
  • Develop Reliability Centered maintenance processes. Provide input into capital budget to drive improved reliability.
NDT Technician Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of mechanical inspection experience; maintenance in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Certification in various technical skills (UT, PT, VT, to at least Level I, Infrared Thermography, etc.) preferred. Must be able to obtain all certifications within one year of hire.
  • Must meet the physical requirements including, but not limited to, climbing stairs and ladders and Confined Space Entry.
  • Must be able to pass fit test for full and half face respirators.
  • Must be able to digest and disseminate written information and make numerical calculations sufficiently well to perform assigned general and specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Proactive problem solving approach focused on action.
  • Understanding of company and industrial design and repair standards and maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of Engineering codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, OSHA PSM, ASNT, etc.

  • Drive design and manufacturing engineering to determine if internal or outsource inspection is necessary
  • Build and maintain a supplier base for off-site and on-site inspection of our hardware when we do not have internal capability for a necessary inspection technique
  • Establish and maintain specifications, training documentation, and other requirements for operating a non-destructive testing program



Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field
  • Must have an American Society for Non-destructive Testing (ASNT) level III certification in a relevant inspection method (radiographic, ultrasonic, eddy current, penetrant)
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience performing and developing NDT for aerospace, automotive, or nuclear applications

  • 5+ years of demonstrated direct experience with maintaining an NDT program on an aerospace flight program (spacecraft, satellite or launch vehicles)
  • ASNT level III certification in multiple relevant methods and specialized techniques (Phased-array ultrasonic and computed tomography)
  • Demonstrated experience specifically with AWS D17.1 Class A welds and AIAA S-081B Category 1 Pressure Vessels

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Job Summary:

The NDT Technician performs non-destructive examinations to evaluate the integrity of welds, materials, and structural components using ultrasonic testing (UT) and other NDE methods. This role supports quality assurance efforts across production and field operations, ensuring compliance with industry codes and internal standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform ultrasonic testing (UT) in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A and applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct additional NDE methods (MT, PT, RT, VT) as qualified and required.
  • Interpret and evaluate test results to determine material and weld acceptability.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and data logs.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance, engineering, and production teams to resolve inspection-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality control procedures during all inspections.
  • Maintain and calibrate NDT equipment and accessories.
  • Participate in field inspections, including travel to job sites and remote locations.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Level I or Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) per ASNT SNT-TC-1A or equivalent.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or vocational education .
  • Strong understanding of NDE principles, inspection techniques, and equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
  • Willingness to travel and work in field environments, including outdoors and elevated areas.
  • Proficient in documentation and report writing.

Skills:

  • Additional NDE certifications (MT, PT, RT, VT) are a plus.
  • Experience in pipeline, structural steel, or aerospace inspections.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with digital NDT systems and inspection software.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting in industrial and field settings.
  • Exposure to heat, noise, and airborne particles typical of manufacturing and construction environments.
  • Required use of PPE including gloves, goggles, hard hats, and steel-toed boots.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and maneuver in confined spaces.
