The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Service line at the Northwell Healths North Shore University Hospital is seeking an experienced Full-time Nocturnist to join our team in the CV-ICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit).
The candidate must be fellowship trained, and Board Certified in Critical Care . Primary board certifications can include Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, or General Surgery. Candidates graduating from their sub-specialty training will also be considered depending upon CV-ICU experience during fellowship training. The ideal candidate should also carry exceptional inter-personal skills with a goal of sharing a vision of unparalleled delivery of care through teamwork, collaboration, innovation, and persistence for excellence.
North Shore University Hospital has been awarded the Silver Beacon Award for Cardiothoracic ICU. This 756-bed hospital has more than 4,000 specially and subspecialty physicians. The CVICU is a 44 bed ICU which cares for both Cardiology critical care patients and Cardiothoracic ICU patients. The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery service line performs cardiac related surgeries including but not limited to all open procedures, transcatheter based therapies, ECMO, and Bi-V support for high-risk PCI. The program has received many accolades for quality including being one of the few programs in New York State to receive the prestigious double asterisk award from the Department of Health for outcomes that are significantly better than the statewide average.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Department Chair, you will direct and establish best practices for the hospital stroke program. As a key member of the hospital leadership team, you will:
- Lead the Stroke Program Team and participate in Neurology Service Line meetings
- Serve as a liaison between administration and the stroke team, regularly reporting to Executive and Health System leadership
- Identify opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction and quality of care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services
- Monitor quality data and lead process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality standards
- Collaborate with service-line leadership to expand and implement best practices in stroke care
- Oversee physician recruitment, mentorship, and supervision
- Drive program development, strategic planning, and process improvement initiatives
- Manage clinical, quality, operational, and financial performance
Candidate Qualifications:
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following qualifications and experience:
- M.D. Degree from an accredited institution (ACGME or foreign program that is similarly appropriately accredited)
- Completion of Neurology residency and Stroke/Vascular fellowship
- Must be Board Certified
- Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a physician in the State of New York
- Minimum of 5 years of experience demonstrating exceptional leadership skills
