Position Summary
The Database Administrator will be responsible for working with a team of DBAs and application developers/system engineers to bring industry best practices to database design, SQL performance tuning, and database maintenance to ensure that multiple database instances, both on-premises and in the Azure, are fully functional 24/7. This role will also be responsible for partnering with Infrastructure/Systems teams to create and implement a strategy for application full stack ownership via a DevOps approach, along with understanding and adhering to security guidelines.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Install, configure and administer SQL Server, Azure SQL Server, Snowflake and MongoDB databases.
- Understand and apply database administration, management, and performance tuning techniques specific to SQL Server, Azure technologies, Snowflake and MongoDB.
- Proactively identify trends in SQL statements and provide recommendation for efficient use of resources using tools like Redgate SQL Monitor and Datadog.
- Perform basic to advance routine DBA activities & service requests using ServiceNow and Jira
- Implements DevOps best practices related to database deployments using CI/CD Pipelines
- Proactively identify resource requirements to ensure high availability of database systems, including those in Snowflake and MongoDB environments.
- Troubleshoot and actively work incident management responses related to RDBMS systems, perform root cause analysis, complete proper documentation, and follow through to develop strategies, policies, procedures to design and implementation standards related to the use of unified solution resources
- Develop automation and scripts to perform proactive maintenance, potentially using Terrform for Infrastructure as Code.
- Administer and maintain database backup and recovery using Rubrik, including Snowflake and MongoDB instances.
- Document best practices to implement and manage/maintain the integrity and security of database instances.
- Schedule, plan, and oversee system upgrades like patching and security upgrades.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of a scheduled rotation, demonstrating the ability to respond quickly and efficiently to emergent issues
