**About the job:**
The NoSQL Database Administrator is responsible for the
design, deployment, management, and optimization of highly available and
scalable NoSQL database environments, specifically focusing on Apache Cassandra
and MongoDB. This role ensures the performance, security, and integrity of
critical data systems.
**Responsibilities:**
**Database Administration:** Install, configure, monitor, and maintain Cassandra and
MongoDB clusters, ensuring high availability, performance, and data
consistency.
**Performance Tuning:** Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing
strategies, data modeling, and cluster configuration adjustments for both
Cassandra and MongoDB.
**Data Management:** Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery
procedures for NoSQL databases.
**Security & Compliance:** Ensure database security by implementing access controls,
encryption, and adhering to compliance standards.
**Troubleshooting & Support:** Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, providing
timely support to development and operations teams.
**Capacity Planning:** Monitor database growth and performance metrics to forecast
future capacity needs and plan for scalability.
**Collaboration:** Work closely with developers on data modeling, schema
design, and application integration with NoSQL databases.
**Documentation:** Maintain comprehensive documentation of database
configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Requirements:
**Technical Expertise:**
+ Strong proficiency inadministering and optimizing Apache Cassandra and MongoDB, includingcluster management, replication, and sharding.
+ Experience with NoSQLdata modeling principles and concepts (e.g., eventual consistency, CAPtheorem).
+ Familiarity with cloudplatforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and deploying NoSQL databases in cloudenvironments.
+ Knowledge of scriptinglanguages (e.g., Python, Shell) for automation.
**Soft Skills:**
+ Excellentproblem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
+ Strong communication andinterpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
+ Ability to workindependently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Education & Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree inComputer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

The Lead NoSQL Database Administrator will play a critical role in optimizing and managing a large-scale enterprise NoSQL platform, primarily built on Apache Cassandra and DataStax. Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage complex NoSQL database architectures across multiple data centers.
- Lead the configuration, monitoring, automation, and performance optimization of Cassandra/DataStax platforms.

- Collaborate with consultants, architects, and internal software teams to design and implement technical solutions.
- Support automation platforms (Ansible) by understanding and improving scripts and processes.

**3 Month Goals:**
+ Successfully onboard to the Data Platform Engineering team and develop strong working relationships with cross-functional stakeholders.
+ Review Humana's enterprise architecture, DevOps governance, and cloud security standards (reference ( ).
+ Assess current MongoDB Atlas, MongoDB Enterprise, Neo4j, and vector database environments; document initial findings and opportunities.
+ Demonstrate proficiency with Kubernetes orchestration and GitOps workflows through setup or enhancement of development environments.
+ Begin contributing Python automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform for cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP).

**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field. or 10 years of hands on NoSQL Cloud Architecture experience.
+ Proven experience with MongoDB and Neo4j in an enterprise environment.
+ Practical knowledge of vector databases and modern data technologies.
+ Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP), including cloud-native application deployment.
+ Proficiency in Python development for automation and database management.
+ Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) or GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) for deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
