**General Overview**
The NPI Engineering Manager for Teledyne RD Instruments leads a team of 8 engineers in our Poway location in the development and manufacturing of marine instruments. This role champions a proactive approach and recommends technology solutions to enhance performance to achieve both short-term and long-term objectives. This role is critical in ensuring the seamless transition of new products from development to production, focusing on integrating complex systems and firmware solutions. The priorities of this position include strategic planning, product design and development, design for manufacturability, quality assurance, staff development and problem resolution. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Develops and delivers new products and supports existing production, per business unit plan, to meet established key results for New Product Introduction (NPI) revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction metrics.
+ Proactively collaborates with business unit senior management team to formulate long-term business strategy, road map and detailed plans for products and technology.
+ Provides periodic corporate level reports on new product development/ introduction, R&D expense allocation and R&D tax credit assessment.
+ Establishes, refines and continuously improves formal engineering development processes, procedures and metrics to meet business unit objectives. Demonstrates continuous quality and development execution improvement on a year over year basis.

On a typical day you will: 
+ Actively participate in project planning processes (understanding/developing requirements, estimating project tasks, defining appropriate deliverables and milestones).
+ Assist in formally managing project activities. Oversee project execution, coordinating and tracking the progress and activities of the project team.
+ Collaborate with cross functional partners to support achieving program goals, deliverables and milestones.
+ Aid in the identification and management of program risks and issues, including developing detailed recovery, mitigation, and escalation plans.
+ Facilitate recurring team meetings, focusing on deliverables and outcomes. Document actions and follow through to completion.
What You Will Need to be Successful: 
+ Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in program, project management, engineering or related field
+ Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, agile thinker, who excels at working collaboratively in a team environment
+ Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
+ Experience defining project plans, including the specification of timelines, key deliverables and milestones

MARS Recruitment is proud to have partnered a world leading specialist manufacturer in the search for a Technical Project Manager to lead technical innovation and NPI based projects. On a day-to-day basis the Technical Project Manager will manage the NPI project process of bespoke products, ensuring these projects are delivered on time, on cost and on quality from cradle to grave. This is an incredibly varied Technical Project Manager role which requires a high level of technical acumen, ideally within cryogenics, magnetics or similar scientific instrumentation.  

 

The successful Technical Project Manager  will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering, science or mathematics based degree. You will need to have a keen interest in physics, engineering, science, magnetics or cryogenics. Other key areas of experience and skills:

Experience of and is currently delivering NPI (new product introduction) projects.

Experience in the Project Management or delivery of products, instrumentation, medical devices or high-tech systems.

A technical understanding of mechanical, electronic and electrical components.

Ideally previous experience managing multiple projects and working across a number of departments to ensure that projects are on time and to budget.

Previous experience in a high-tech, low volume manufacturing environment is essential for this role. This role has hybrid working available, 3-4 days in, 1-2 days from home, this all depends on the project requirements.
