Position description
The Bay Area Neutron Group (BANG). led by Dr. Bethany Goldblum, in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley welcomes applications for a postdoctoral scholar in the area of scintillation physics for radiation detection applications. The goal of this work, in collaboration with US DOE national laboratories, is the development of a theoretical framework to predict organic scintillator properties from the underlying molecular structure. Primary responsibilities for this position include the development of computational models to simulate scintillator properties using time-dependent density functional theory and Monte Carlo methods, analysis and interpretation of data to validate theoretical models, manuscript development, and communication of research at relevant scientific meetings. The successful candidate will work at the forefront of radiation detection science in a collaborative environment with experimentalists at the 88-Inch Cyclotron at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

We are seeking a Program Manager, Engineering & Nuclear Safety to support N3B in a direct role! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
This position is a KEY ROLE in N3B's Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup contract, directing the Engineering & Nuclear Safety (E&NS) Department operations and serve as the focal point for integration of the department's broad, technically diverse disciplines (Engineering, Nuclear Safety, Criticality Safety, Fire Protection, Maintenance, and N3B Training Program).
The successful candidate will function as a team leader to maintain and provide continuous improvement for an integrated Engineering Program compliant with DOE O 420.1C and Maintenance Program compliant with DOE O 433.1B, prepare and maintain multiple nuclear facility DSAs, including implementation of major facility modifications and major DSA revisions, maintain and provide continuous improvement for the N3B Training Program and manage the Criticality Safety and Fire Protection Programs. The preferred candidate should be self-motivated; values building credible relationships with internal companies and external contacts; and exemplifies flexibility in approaching challenges in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the N3B Executive Officer.
Responsibilities
- Serves as interpretive authority for issues related to the full scope of departmental activities, including: design, construction, readiness and start-up operations, facility and equipment maintenance, configuration management, facility engineering, fire protection, safety basis, hoisting & rigging program, company-wide training, and SMP management (i.e., Electrical Safety/AHJ, Conduct of Training, Conduct of Maintenance, Conduct of Engineering, etc.).
- Provides management direction for the department's day-to-day operations.
- Ensure operational integration of functional units and assure effective interface with other N3B organizations, EM-LA, DNFSB, various stakeholder organizations (i.e., NMED, State Engineering, EPA, etc.) and corporate organizations.
- Serve as an expert interpretive authority for all matters related to the Engineering & Nuclear Safety department to ensure effective, consistent strategies.
- Integrate information from a broad range of functional experts and provide strategic input to the President and General Manager.
- Ensure efficient planning, integration, and process improvement responsibilities associated with maintenance of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
- Ensure maintenance and/or construction operations continuously adhere to nuclear safety requirements, engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
- Responsible for maintenance and/or construction performance and oversight of subcontracted and/or in-house facility maintenance and/or construction services.
- Facilitate effective communications within the department.

What impact you'll make:
Engineers in the Field Engineering Program (FEP) work onsite with and for our customers with legacy fleet reactors. You will provide immediate value as part of the outage team, servicing our customers' reactors safely, effectively, and efficiently, to get them back on-line.
**Job Description**
FEP engineers work in a value-adding role while participating in a development program consisting of rotational assignments within outage services that build key technical and leadership competencies. **Where you will land in 2 years**
After the program, you will have a solid foundation of working in and leading teams during a reactor outage. As an Outage Services Field Engineer, you will apply your technical expertise to strengthen the existing fleet of nuclear reactors. You might be leading teams on the Refuel Floor, Under Vessel or designing/building/implementing tools in our Modification teams or Inspection Services group.
The base pay for this position is $64,000 to $81,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on Friday October 31st.
The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.

Maritime Operations within Mission Technologies - Nuclear & Environmental Services, is looking for an Engineering Technician 4 to join the team in Newport News, VA.
Engineering Technicians in the Maritime Operations group support a wide variety of different functional areas at Newport News Shipyard. This requisition is specifically seeking candidates to support Newport News Shipbuilding in the Nuclear Propulsion Division in key roles in Nuclear Test Engineering.
What You Will Do
+ Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
+ Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
+ Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
+ Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas.
+ Preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
+ Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
+ May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
What You Must Have
+ Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related (DoD/USN) experience.
+ Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
+ Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
+ Candidate must have prior Navy nuclear propulsion experience, Department of Energy or commercial nuclear power experience.
Bonus Points For Having!
+ Actively pursuing an ABET accredited bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
+ Prior nuclear operations or work control experience.
+ Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate.
+ Four (4) years of related manufacturing, shipbuilding, or trades experience.

Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the job. A waterfront office work environment is normally encountered.
