Job Description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. In this role, you will deliver direct patient care, including evaluation, treatment and technical procedures to a specific group of patients, as well as provide health education, referrals to other disciplines, and consultation with other allied health personnel. More specifically, you will play an integral role in management and follow-up care for patients that undergo breast biopsy by ensuring patients receive their results and that appropriate referrals are initiated when needed. Additionally, you will provide oversight and care for patients identified as high-risk for the development of breast cancer by providing referrals to appropriate health care providers in collaboration with the patient's primary care provider. You will work closely with team members from the Women's Center, Radiology, High-Risk Breast Program, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Surgery and provide overall support of our Breast Program standards and initiatives. We are looking for someone dedicated and experienced, with excellent communication skills and a commitment to creating a healthier Hawai'i.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Role Purpose

    Utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized area of nursing to diagnose, proscribe, and treat pediatric and neonatal patients within the scope of a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s) to support a designated clinical service.

    Responsibilities

  • Participates in professional development
  • Develops treatment plans, treats patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician.
  • Coordinates the care of select patient populations to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals.
  • Assumes a leadership role within a specific clinical specialty.
  • Manages the health care of select patient populations through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician.
