JOB DESCRIPTION:
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Provides nursing care to individuals in the Vocational and Residential Division programs. This includes medication administration training, medication monitoring, education and training to consumers and staff. Performs as a liaison between consumer and physicians, lab, pharmacist, family or vocational/residential staff, and other community caregivers' education. Supports consumers by promoting wellness, recovery and skill building to sustaining better heath. Provides prevention training in the areas of wellness, recovery, managing symptoms, making healthy life style choices, recognizing and responding to relapse, managing crisis and achieving and sustaining recovery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides outpatient counseling services utilizing evidence-based methodologies to provide excellent clinical services. Prepare for and conduct individual and group services for assigned caseload.
- Administers medications to patients, monitors the dosage, side effects, use and documents patients' reactions.
- Assists service recipients with making linkages with internal and external resources as outlined in treatment plan and in coordination with Integrated Healthcare Services. Maintains appropriate contact with referral sources including providing information on service recipient progress, behavior, and needs (with appropriate releases), and maintaining ongoing consultation when appropriate.
- In CILA I/DD settings, provides training for authorization of staff and authorizes staff to administer the client's medication, to monitor proper levels of dosage and watch for side effects. Provides ongoing training to staff.
- Conducts assessments, tests, and evaluations and completes paperwork, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
- Knowledge of IL DHS Rules 115, 116, 119 and 132.
- Skilled in customer service techniques.
- Skilled in problem-solving.
- Skilled in providing advocacy services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level
Completion of accredited Nursing program.
Years of Experience
One year experience, preferably with intellectual/developmental disability services.
Certification/Licensure
Requires RN license.
Must be DHS-approved RN Nurse-Trainer or complete training upon hire.
Providers utilizing electronic health records and/or other automated/electronic documentation systems are required to have computer and keyboarding experience and skills or the ability to develop such skills within required timeframes in order to meet the level of proficiency set by the agency. Direct Service Providers utilizing electronic/automated documentation systems will be required to undergo a computer and keyboarding assessment test to determine proficiency.

INFECTION CONTROL / REGISTERED NURSE (RN) POSITION SUMMARY
An Infection Control / Registered Nurse (RN) delivers quality care consistent within the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act for Registered Nurses. Job Description
The Director of Nursing Education provides collaborative leadership and day-to-day management of the nursing program, ensuring ongoing compliance with national accreditation standards set by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). This role works closely with faculty and the Dean to support program quality and achieve student learning outcomes. Responsibilities include curriculum oversight-such as program and course development, curriculum mapping, and updates-along with the oversight of adjunct faculty and clinical sites. The coordinator also plays a key role in student success by overseeing admissions, progression, and graduation processes, and by supporting continuous improvement efforts related to teaching, learning, and program outcomes.
In addition to primary responsibility for the nursing program, the Director for Nursing Education will work closely with the Director for Allied Health Professions to assure compliance with the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) for all continuing education nursing programs including nurse refresher, certified nursing assistant and other continuing education programs requiring MBON approval.
The Director of Nursing Education provides strategic and operational support to ensure consistency and efficiency across all nursing and allied health program areas. This includes oversight of course delivery, scheduling, lab and simulation coordination, clinical site management, and ongoing evaluation of program quality and student support services.
In partnership with the Dean, the Director addresses faculty, staff, and student concerns while fostering a collaborative, respectful, and student-centered departmental culture. The Director also assists with budget planning and fiscal oversight, including grant development and management, and may serve as the project director for nursing program grants.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
