Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) is proud to partner with CareerWise New York (CWNY), a non-profit organization that connects New York City students to youth apprenticeships, to launch a Clinical Youth Apprenticeship Program. This innovative program will expand access to healthcare careers for NYC youth while building a future talent pipeline for critical roles in nursing and surgical technology at MSK.
We are seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist - Program Manager to lead the design, implementation, and oversight of this groundbreaking program. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the professional development of future healthcare leaders while advancing MSK's mission to end cancer for life.
**Role Overview** **:**
+ Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment to design, implement, and evaluate the youth apprenticeship program.
+ Coordinate program activities, including orientation, in-services, continuing education, and specialty learning experiences.
+ Supervise apprentices, manage scheduling, and ensure appropriate support throughout their rotations.
+ Partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a robust, well-rounded training experience.
+ Collaborate with departments such as Room Services and Patient Escort to ensure meaningful, safe apprentice engagement.
+ Develop innovative strategies to enhance apprentice learning and professional development.
**Key Qualifications** **:**
+ Active NYS RN License required.
+ Master's degree in nursing education preferred (other nursing-related master's degrees considered).
+ Minimum 5 years of recent and relevant clinical experience with demonstrated leadership in program development and management.
+ BLS certification isrequired.
+ Nursing Professional Development (NPD) certification preferred.

Overview

Responsible for assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational activities for nursing throughout the system, in all WakeMed facilities, as a systemwide provider of nursing continuing professional development. Responsible for facilitation of professional growth and development of staff and to meet the needs of the system in orientation and continuing education programs through promotion of ongoing competency and quality patient care. Works corroboratively throughout the system to support the mission of the organization and the division of nursing specifically. Responsible for both the application of theoretical principles of adult learning and the educational process in order to meet organizational, divisional and/or unit based goals especially as they relate to patient outcomes. Acts as a resource to hospital staff on multiple levels and in various capacities to insure adherence to professional standards, regulatory agency requirements, NC Board of Nursing mandates and organizational policies/procedures and protocols.National Certification in Nursing Required - Within 1 Year of Hire
