JOB SUMMARY:

Adjunct faculty will work under the supervision of the academic administrator or the academic faculty of the course. The adjunct faculty will have duties and responsibilities expected of regular full-time faculty members in the unit.

The DNP Faculty Member will teach graduate-level courses, mentor DNP students, and engage in scholarly activities. The ideal candidate is a DNP-prepared, nationally board-certified FNP or AGPCNP with at least two years of teaching experience in a DNP program, preferably online. They should have a student-focused approach, professional expertise in clinical practice, and experience leading or participating in DNP projects.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Under the leadership of the Program Administrator and Director of Graduate Programs, facilitate quality learning experiences that provide:

A risk-free environment for student learners that reinforce critical thinking and decision making and opportunities to enhance caring behaviors towards peers and patients

Enhance student's ability to promote patient safety and quality health care, and clinical competence through selected critical thinking scenarios

Improve performance, communication, and efficiency in clinical setting

Promote evidence-based decision making for professional practice, empowerment of the student in preparation for the clinical setting

Facilitate debriefing and positive feedback to enhance student learning

Encourage students to self-analyze their performance and use critical thinking during the reflection process

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Key responsibilities include teaching graduate-level DNP courses, delivering high-quality online instruction, mentoring students, leading/participating in DNP projects, and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
* Ensure DNP Quality Improvement (QI) projects meet academic standards, are clinically relevant, impactful, and evidence-based.
* Contribute to curriculum development by incorporating current healthcare trends, advanced nursing practice, and educational technologies. Collaborate with faculty leadership to develop course content and evaluation methods. Participate in accreditation to ensure the program meets standards (if applicable).
* Engage in scholarly activities like research, publications, and presentations to advance nursing practice and education. Contribute to the nursing profession through service activities in academic, professional, and clinical settings. Maintain current knowledge in nursing practice, health policy, and educational strategies.
* Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and institutional activities. Contribute to program-level strategies for student success, retention, and graduation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

* Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
* Proficiency in online teaching platforms and educational technologies is required.
* Constructive feedback and mentoring to students.
* Commitment to student success, professional growth, and academic excellence.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Accredited DNP degree from an institution is required.
* Unencumbered RN license is required.
* Board certification as an FNP or AGPCNP is preferred.
* At least two years of teaching in a DNP program, preferably online.
* Expertise in primary or family care nursing is recommended.
* Experience as a Chair or Member of DNP scholarly projects is highly desirable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Accredited DNP faculty experience.
* DNP project oversight, including student mentoring highly desirable.
* Active scholarly research or practice-based inquiry recommended.
* The position requires a combination of online teaching and DNP faculty responsibilities.
* Collaborative work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
* This position reports to leadership within the School of Nursing.

Licensing and Certifications:

* Current, active, and unencumbered RN and/or Nurse Practitioner licensure.
* Certification as an FNP or AGPCNP preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods.
* Occasional ability to lift, carry, and put away parcels weighing up to 25 pounds.

This position can be hired as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nursing Practice Specialist or Clinical Quality Leader depending on education.
Relocation assistance provided.
Adheres to the clinical nurse specialist core competencies as defined by the National Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Competency Task Force and recognized by the American Nurses Association (ANA). The CNS practices through 3 spheres of influence, including the patient, unit/department, and the organization. Provides leadership, clinical expertise, education, program development, and consultation to promote the standards of nursing practice. Works collaboratively with leadership to develop criteria for patient care, assess health needs of patients/populations, and evaluate nursing interventions to achieve optimal nursing practice outcomes. Facilitates problem solving and decision making to influence the development, implementation and evaluation of patient, as well as unit/department goals.
**Required Education and Experience**
Master's or Doctorate in Nursing.
A minimum of three (3) years of RN experience.
**Required Credentials**
State of Washington RN License.
Advanced Registered Nurse License (ARNP-CS).
Certified as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)through the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
At time of hire and as a condition of employment: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions and must be maintained at all times by all nurses unless specifically noted below.
Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers.
Note: Employees are responsible for any costs (including time away from work) associated with obtaining PALS or PEARS certification if it is not a requirement of the position. (ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute to the requirements listed above.).
Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PALS within 3 months of employment: Emergency Department, Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU), Cardiac Intensive Care (CICU), Critical Care Float Pool, Recovery Room (PACU), Operating Room (OR), Interventional Radiology (IR), Pediatric Transport Control, Bellevue Surgery Center, Cath Lab & Special Procedures, and ALL Urgent Care locations.
Must obtain PALS or PEARS instructor certification within one year of employment.

Previous CNS experience.
**Compensation Range**
$115,277.00 - $209,228.00 per year
**Salary Information**

General Overview Blake 12 is an 18-bed multidisciplinary intensive care unit responsible for the care of adult patients with a variety of surgical and medical conditions as well as Transplant and Trauma patients. This unit is the main assignment for critically ill patients who benefit from multidisciplinary care. It handles a variety of surgical and medical conditions, including post-operative complex abdominal, orthopedic, vascular, and thoracic surgical illnesses with hemodynamic instability, sepsis, ARDS, multiple traumas, intracranial hypertension, and multi-system organ dysfunction or failure. Blake 12 is also a transplant ICU: helping to care for post-operative abdominal and lung transplant patients. Technologies and therapies used to support patients are multiparameter physiologic monitoring including continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), mechanical ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, ICP monitoring, etc. The patient care delivery model is a Relationship Based Care model, supported by patient-focused care that is high quality, comprehensive, accessible, supportive and personalized The Nursing Practice Specialist (NPS) is a master's prepared nurse with an area of expertise who promotes competent, compassionate and professional nursing care for patients/families across the continuum. The role is a leadership and clinical practice role encompassing patient care, teaching, consultation and research. In collaboration with the Nursing Director and the nursing staff, the NPS influences outcomes and ensures quality patient care. Applicants for this position should be energetic leaders that are able to motivate others towards change. Someone who is skilled at managing conflict and initiating and maintaining collaborative relationships with peers, staff, administration and interdisciplinary health team members to enhance delivery of health care is a must.
