  • Negotiate high-value contracts with Jones Act carriers and international ocean providers, including FAK and named account rates.
  • Establish and grow direct relationships with beneficial cargo owners (BCOs), carriers, and drayage partners.
  • Manage and develop a distributed team, including offshore staff, while maintaining strong ownership over execution and relationship strategy.
  • Influence pricing and procurement strategies with real-time market intelligence and analytics.
  • Own KPIs for service quality, compliance, and cost optimization.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and finance to align carrier strategies with business growth.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Execute contract negotiations, manage SLAs, and lead Quarterly Business Reviews to resolve disputes and unlock value.
  • Ensure alignment of drayage capacity with port schedules, equipment availability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Leverage TMS and freight management tools to monitor and improve carrier performance.
  • Deliver market insights that shape routing decisions, bid responses, and commercial strategies.
  • Build a resilient, scalable logistics function capable of supporting global growth.

Are You a Director of Ocean & Drayage Carrier Management Rock Star?

  • Youve led complex contract negotiations and maintained long-term partnerships with ocean and drayage carriers.
  • You have hands-on experience moving containers globally and understand compliance requirements, INCOTERMS, and BCO dynamics.
  • Youve successfully managed teams, including offshore and hybrid structures, with an emphasis on performance ownership.
  • You know the difference between coordinating freight and owning relationships and youve done the latter.
