Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive drilling plans and programs, including casing and cementing designs, mud programs, and directional drilling plans.
  • Oversee and manage offshore drilling rig operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational efficiency.
  • Select and manage drilling equipment, services, and contractors.
  • Conduct pre-drill risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor drilling performance, identify potential problems, and implement timely solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements, including environmental and safety regulations.
  • Supervise drilling crews and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
  • Analyze drilling data and prepare daily drilling reports, end-of-well reports, and performance evaluations.
  • Manage the drilling budget and control operational costs.
  • Coordinate with subsurface teams (geologists, reservoir engineers) to optimize drilling operations based on formation evaluation and reservoir data.
  • Develop contingency plans for potential drilling incidents.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in drilling technology and techniques.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in drilling engineering, with a significant portion focused on offshore operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with various drilling rig types (jack-ups, semi-submersibles, drillships) and offshore drilling techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of well control principles and procedures (e.g., IWCF certification).
  • Proficiency in drilling simulation software and data analysis.
  • Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and practices in the offshore industry.
