Position OverviewThis is a 3rd shift position. An individual would perform various duties in and around the job site which include, but not limited to: General Laboring, various pieces of equipment including paver, roller, loader, excavator, and Maintenance.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
- Ability to maintain and safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including Haul Tuck, Water Truck, Dump Truck, Dredge, Track Hoe, Frontend Loader, and Skid Steer Loader.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to weld and fabricate as needed.
- Assist with miscellaneous duties include but not limited to; general labor, shoveling, performing necessary equipment maintenance, assisting foreperson and/or crew members as needed as requested by the Plant Manager/Superintendent/Foreperson.
- Assist with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
- Clean up around the plant, equipment, and surrounding area.
- General understanding of OSHA & MSHA regulations.
- Perform general maintenance on the equipment.
- Work various shifts as necessary, including both day and night shift hours.
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures. Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies. Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: Less than or equal to a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Personal Protective Equipment Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, use of Seatbelt and harnesses when required.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to perform basic mathematical skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely maneuver excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, and other heavy equipment.
- Operate heavy equipment with precision to dig trenches, grade land, clear debris, and mass excavation.
- Transport and place construction materials on the job site as required.
- Ensure work does not disturb/damage existing utilities.
- Understand project specifications and supervisor instructions to execute work accurately.

**What you'll do.**
Communicate with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (e.g. customers, suppliers, associates).
Ensure freight quality by processing stray and damaged cases; inspecting pallets, shrink wrap, and freight for damage; cutting shrink wrap as needed; and maintaining records, logs, and forms.
Maintain merchandise supply by replenishing pallets of merchandise onto/from racks or docks using warehouse systems or through verbal instructions.
Organize warehouse by using power equipment to remove pallets from pallet returns (e.g., pallet storage, trailers); up-stacking/down-stacking empty pallets; and up-stacking/down-stacking freight.
Manage freight flow by moving, scanning, and handling freight manually and/or with power equipment.
Provide basic maintenance to equipment (e.g., clean, inspect).

JOB SUMMARY
This position will operate power equipment such as stock pickers, reach trucks, and turret trucks for the replenishment and case pick areas. May also operate pallet riders and manual pallet jacks. Responsibility for accurate inventory management, with use of computers or Radio Frequency "RF" guns.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- You will complete all pre-shift inspection checklists on all power equipment before use.
- You will be meeting daily performance and accuracy goals.
- You will use RF technology and appropriate inventory management practices.
- You will maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment.
- You will work collaboratively with other employees and departments toward common goals and objectives.
- You will rotate throwing cases onto the bypass conveyor.
- You will be providing support during Physical Inventories of Warehouse
- You will perform other duties as assigned.
- You are qualified with previous experience driving power equipment
- You are qualified with work experience in a distribution center
- You are qualified with analytical and counting skills
- You are qualified with reading, writing, mathematical and English language skills usually attained through a High School or equivalent education.
- You are qualified with computer knowledge and experience operating RF scanners
- You are willing to move about and work in alternate departments to support the business
- You are flexibility to work required overtime
- You are able to frequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds, regularly throughout the day.
- You are able to wear a body harness and other fall protection PPE and meet the required weight classifications for fall protection. Weight classifications will be an ongoing requirement; regular weigh-ins are mandatory for safety purposes.
