Our Willis Knighton Bossier campus is seeking a certified surgical technologist, or eligible to become certified, to assist our professional staff. Our facility has seven inpatient surgical suites and a four-suite outpatient pavilion. This facility is Bossier City's only full-service community hospital, offering a variety of surgical procedures with an emphasis on orthopedic sports medicine procedures. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited program for surgical technologists. Call will be required with a 30-minute mandatory response time. Your job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to; assisting all surgical staff members, ensuring each patient receives optimal care, following all the national patient safety goals, assisting with case preparation, assisting in draping patients, instrument counts, assuring all supplies are available and equipment is in proper working order prior to all procedures. An orientation will be provided based on your experience and level of comfort. **Job Summary and Qualifications**
**Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech contributes to the company's mission and vision by assisting with the provision of safe and effective nursing care in accordance with a defined scope of practice within the operating room. This may include: direct patient care and observation, scrubbing and assisting the surgeon at the operative field, surgical room turnover between cases, collection and recording of pertinent clinical data in the medical record and consistent collaboration with the Registered Nurse in clinical decision making.**

+ **Demonstrate necessary practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the role of the surgical technician in accordance with Association of Surgical Technologists**
+ **Assist in preparing the operative suite for surgery by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments**
+ **Ensure that surgical asepsis is maintained in the handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings**
+ **Assist in the turnover of the O.R. suites between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning of equipment and environmental surfaces**
+ **Prepare procedure room for use the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, "pulling cases" accurately, and reporting to supervisor items that are needed and not available**

NYS LPN License; or
Has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; or
Provides evidence that the person was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015.
After a thorough and diligent effort has been made and the healthcare facility is unable to employ or contract with a sufficient number of qualified surgical technologists who meet the prior requirements, a person can be hired if that person meets the requirements within two years of their start of employment or contracting for the performance of surgical technology
1-2 year of previous OR experience preferred
Must possess adequate hearing, vision, and hand dexterity to manipulate instruments and equipment while functioning in multiple surgical specialties
Preferred requirements:
1+ year of experience as a surgical tech in an operating room setting
Strong dexterity and stamina to work on long cases as needed
Prioritize quickly a number of different tasks and activates
Work and engage with a team to help promote strong team work
Strong communication skills in a fast pace work environment
Critical thinking skills to help assist the RNs and Surgeons
Passion to learn, grow and develop in the nursing field
Pay Range: $27.15 - $35.75
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
