Operations Controller / Cost Accounting Manager
Overview
We’re seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Controller / Cost Accounting Manager to join the finance team at our U.S. manufacturing site. This role will serve as a strategic business partner to the Production and Logistics teams, delivering cost analysis, financial insights, and key performance indicators to drive efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary finance partner to Operations and Logistics, providing analysis on costs, productivity, and KPIs.
- Manage and update standard cost calculations, including annual updates and maintaining material costs within SAP.
- Report cost variances clearly and concisely to support timely corrective action by management.
- Review and analyze weekly/monthly production variances and support initiatives to reduce them.
- Support Operations in identifying and implementing productivity and cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor material movement errors, reconcile inventory transactions, and ensure accurate reporting for month-end close.
- Lead and coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle count processes throughout the year.
- Complete month-end controlling and reporting tasks in accordance with internal deadlines.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure timely monthly compliance.
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Support external auditors during the annual audit process.
Qualifications
- Experience with SAP in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Solid understanding of both financial and managerial accounting.
- Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
- CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
- Strong Excel skills, especially in building and interpreting analytical models.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up abilities.

**Who you are:**
+ **Experienced** - You have two (2) years of experience in communications/operations at a large airport, police facility, or public service agency.
+ **Educated** - You possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
+ **Certification or equivalent** - You must possess an AAAE Ace Communications or AAAE Ace Operations Certification or equivalent or greater qualifications (such as an Associate degree or higher and/or AAAE Certified Member (CM)).

+ **Work Environment** - You will primarily work in a shared office environment.
+ **Washington State Residency Requirement** - Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
+ **Overtime Eligible** - You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.

**The Opportunity:**
The Real-Time Operations Controller position is part of a 24 X 7 X 365 crew who monitors ground equipment and services scheduled by users within an automated planning and scheduling system (shift schedule 5 am-5 pm, 5 pm-5 am) Tasks include monitoring the status of initiated services, rescheduling as necessary for interrupted services, and assisting with service setup and execution.
**Responsibilities:**

Air Operations Controllers are relentless problem solvers who proactively seek out and eliminate potential opportunities for network disruption, manage network capacity, and manage inventory levels for Unit Load Devices (ULDs) and bags across our expansive global operations. Air Operations Controllers support leadership by recommending process improvements that enhance safety, reduce cost, and improve overall effectiveness.
**Eligibility requirements**
- Individuals hired into this position will have unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA). For this reason, eligibility for this role will be limited to individuals who pass a security screening, as required by the FAA, DHS, and TSA (as applicable).
- Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable.
**Drug Test Requirement**
- This position requires an employee's full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute their job duties to ensure the safety and security of Amazon Air personnel, third-party contractors, Airport personnel, cargo, and equipment. Key job responsibilities
- Proactively monitor all aircraft movement activity to identify, address, and prevent potential issues
- Monitor all inbound/outbound customer package movements and escalate issues as required to protect the flight schedule
- Develop and execute effective service recovery plans as necessary
- Liaise with AIR's air carriers, ground handlers, and other service providers to help facilitate on-time operations
- Continually assess and communicate the operational status of all assigned flights and/or gateways
- Review, analyze, and monitor present and forecast weather conditions for all assigned areas of operation
- Partner with all stakeholders to resolve irregularities, disruptions, cancellations, extended delays, or other impactful issues
- Escalate significant issues to NCC Air Operations Managers for visibility and resolution
- Monitor and manage AIR network capacity
- Monitor and manage capacity of ULDs and bags across the AIR network
- Support leadership by analyzing data, preparing reports, and providing other relevant information for operations meetings or executive leadership briefings
- Work variable shifts which will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Travel up to 10% of the time
Basic Qualifications
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- 5+ years of experience in one of the following: Transportation Operations Management, Logistics Management, Contingency Management, Aviation Operations Management, Meteorological forecasting and reporting, and/or Network Control Center Operations Management
- Bachelor's Degree or one of the following equivalent experiences: 6 years of aviation-related military experience, 2 years of Amazon Experience, or any of the following FAA licenses/certificates + 5 years of relevant experience: FAA Commercial Pilot License or greater, FAA Aircraft Dispatcher License, Air Traffic Control Certificate, Air Frame and Power Plant License
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure environment
- Ability to exercise sound judgement where clear guidelines may not exist
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite

Key Responsibilities:

A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking an exempt, full-time Controller Accounting Operations for the Kirksville, Missouri campus. This position reports to the Assistant Chief Financial Officer. The Controller leads core accounting operations across a complex, multi-campus, not-for-profit graduate health sciences university. Areas of oversight include accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, general ledger, grants, endowments, investments, life annuities, gift income, clinic accounting, fixed assets, daily investment and cash management, and institutional tax compliance (e.g., property, sales/use, and non-employee compensation).
This role supervises a team of accounting professionals and collaborates with university leadership to ensure sound financial operations and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Controller plays a key role in supporting the annual external financial audit through detailed reconciliations, audit schedules, and technical
guidance.
**Duties & Responsibilities:**
+ Lead day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, GL, procurement, fixed assets, grants, investments, gift income, and endowments, along with cash management.

Requirements
**Education & Experience**

+ Minimum 7 years of progressive fund accounting experience in higher education or complex nonprofit.
+ Supervisory experience in accounting or finance required.
+ Direct experience with grant, endowment, and investment accounting, including compliance and reconciliation.
+ Strong working knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting principles, and audit preparation.
+ Understanding of regulations, compliance, documentation, and the specifics of managing grants, such as familiarity with federal audit procedures, and knowledge of the financial and performance reporting requirements.
