We're seeking an experienced Optical Systems Engineer to join our Reality Labs team, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AR display and imaging systems. 1. Develop calibration routines and methods to meet display performance requirements
2. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate end to end display calibration enables the product concept of operation

4. Operate and calibrate precision optical measurement equipment (e.g., spectroradiometers, colorimeters, photometers)
5. Analyze test data and prepare detailed reports, identifying trends and recommending improvements
6. Collaborate with hardware, software, and design teams to resolve display-related issues and optimize system integration
7. Define display quality criteria and validation procedures aligned to product requirements and industry standards
8. Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of display defects or anomalies

The Optical Engineer at Daylight will be part of an engineering team developing novel laser components and systems and transitioning them into products. This person will analyze, model, design, prototype, and test laser components and systems. + Design, build, and test laser modules and sub-systems from UV to LWIR

+ Perform optical design and tolerance analysis using sequential and non-sequential Zemax
+ Perform supplementary analysis using Python, MATLAB, or Excel
+ Develop laser and build station alignment procedures
+ Identify and propose mitigation of technical risks
+ Design, build, and validate optical alignment and laser test stations
+ Perform initial laser builds and write characterization reports
+ Perform Design Verification Testing (DVT) of engineering units

Responsibilities
+ Research emerging sensor technologies and explore their applications within the fulfillment network.
+ Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, testing teams, and suppliers to develop sensor technologies from concept to high volume production.
+ Design and develop sensor and compute products characterization methodologies and automate solutions.
+ Define system requirements and test plans, conduct experiments, collect data, and perform system/sub-system level testing and evaluation.
+ Work backwards from customer needs, advising sensor selection, designing sensor and compute systems, developing integration plans, and prototyping solutions.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, System Engineering or related discipline.
+ 5+ years of system development experience from concept to production environment.
+ Experience with sensing technologies such as camera, stereo camera, time-of-flight camera, radar, and lidar.
+ Experience designing sensors and compute systems for high fidelity perception applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience developing sensor characterization methodologies and infrastructure.
+ Experience with camera lens optical simulation using Zemax.
