- The ability to perform all hygiene clinical procedures, including (but not limited to) adult and child prophylaxis, non-surgical periodontal therapy, sealants, and fluoride
Hygienists are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control trainings as required by law.

**Summary**
Highland Hospital, located in Oakland, California, is a UCSF affiliated level 1 trauma center and is the largest facility of Alameda Health System which serves a diverse patient population in California's East Bay Area. As a provider of care to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay for services, we provide high quality, accessible care to our community's most vulnerable patients. The Dental Clinic at Highland Hospital provides comprehensive dental care including but not limited to; preventative and restorative dental services, emergency dental services and exodontia. Providers are made up of general dentists, general practice residents, Oral Surgery residents and attendings. RDAs are paired 1:1 with providers to provide 4-handed dentistry. Our providers and staff are dedicated to our patients and would love to welcome others who share our mission!
We are currently recruiting for a Periodontist to oversee our General Practice residents to join our team. This position will be based at our Highland Hospital. This position will require you to be available 1 day a week. If you are interested in this opportunity, we encourage you to apply!
**DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Oversees periodontic treatment by residents and provides didactic training to residents;
2. Performs oral examinations at the AHS Dental Clinics, interprets x-rays; treats mouth diseases; performs prophylactic procedures, restorations, and other treatment as needed; takes impressions, orders dentures and fits and adjusts dentures; instructs patients in oral hygiene and dental care.
3. Performs emergency procedures in order to reduce immediate pain; refers patients for needed dental care to the regularly scheduled Staff Dentist for treatment.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** Completion of a CODA approved periodontic residency program.
**REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:** Possession of a valid license to practice Dentistry in the State of California.
Pay Range: $118.41 / Hour

**THIS JOB REQUIRES ENLISTING/JOINING THE U.S. ARMY AND YOU MUST BE BETWEEN THE AGES OF 17-34 YEARS OLD TO APPLY**
Work one weekend a month, two weeks a year over the summer in the Army Reserves. The US Army and Army Reserves has multiple vacancies for an entry level Dental Specialist. You do not require prior training or experience in this career field in order to qualify for this position. If you qualify, you will be given a date to attend the 10 week Basic training followed by the 8 week Advanced Individual Training (AIT). You would receive full time Army pay and Benefits while attending training. 16 Nationally Recognized Certifications are available with this training.
As a Dental Specialist, you'll receive the specialized training needed to assist Army dentists in the examination and treatment of servicemembers teeth. You'll help the dentist prepare for operations by selecting and arranging instruments and by taking patients dental impressions and X-rays. Youll also manage the dental offices and patient records, perform preventive cleanings, take the patients blood pressure, pulse, and help administer anesthesia when needed.

Requirements:
- All necessary state certifications and licenses for dental assistants.
- Active CPR/BLS certification.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.

Your Role at Tend:
- Deliver outstanding dental care to our patients.
- Encourage patients to enhance their at-home dental care routine.
- Foster long-lasting, positive relationships with patients.
- Help make dental visits enjoyable for patients.
- Collaborate with your team to achieve studio goals.
Full-Time Schedule:
- Work 4 days per week with 2 rotating Saturdays each month.
