Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI) and first piece inspection to verify that newly manufactured parts meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and execute CMM programs for first article inspection of complex aerospace and defense components.
- Document and review inspection results, highlighting any non-conformances or deviations from specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve any discrepancies or issues identified during the first article process.
- Program and operate CMM machines (manual or automated) to perform measurements on a variety of aerospace and defense components, ensuring high accuracy and precision.
- Develop and modify CMM programs for parts, assemblies, and tooling based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and part prints.
- Utilize Calypso CMM software to write, optimize, and verify CMM inspection programs.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration on CMM equipment to ensure its functionality and precision.
- Provide technical support to the quality assurance team during inspections and provide feedback to ensure continuous quality improvements.
- Analyze inspection data and assist in the creation of quality reports, identifying trends or areas for improvement.
- Review drawings, specifications, and work instructions to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards.
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve measurement-related issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives for the quality control process.
- Train and mentor other team members in CMM operations and programming techniques.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related discipline) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience operating and programming CMMs in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on aerospace and defense applications.
- Expert in CMM programming and operation using Calypso software
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), blueprints, and engineering drawings, specifically in the context of aerospace and defense standards.
- Experience with first article inspection and understanding of industry standards such as AS9102 for aerospace FAI documentation.
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and inspection techniques used in the aerospace and defense industry.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and other departments.
- Experience with robotic CMMs and automation systems.
- Certification or formal training in CMM operation and programming.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.

The candidate for this position will be part of a team performing and managing First Article Inspections for high-reliability military products. Team members will include Inspection and Manufacturing Engineering support personnel who coordinate with other Operations and Engineering staff to ensure products meet all characteristics outlined for the subassemblies and products. In this position an experienced Inspector shall perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with Aerospace Standard AS9102 Revision C.
This job role involves performing visual and dimensional checks on metal fabricated items, military high-reliability assemblies, and finished goods, according to provided drawings, industry/military specifications, and company procedures.
The candidate will ensure the accuracy and completeness of all engineering design requirements on AS9102C Forms 1, 2 and 3. This includes identifying, documenting, and reporting any gaps or discrepancies found to the team and supporting staff.
Review and confirm that the First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) is accurate and complete, and that all product accountability aspects are addressed prior to submitting for final approval.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Completion of high school degree with math and writing emphasis; 2-year technical degree or equivalent military experience desirable.
+ Must be able to lift units up to a weight of 15 pounds and/or be able to utilize mobile lift tables or two man lifts for anything over a pre-established weight.
+ Working knowledge and practical experience of the AS9102C standard and IPC-620, with at least five years of inspection experience in the military aerospace, medical or other high-reliability inspection field or related technical accomplishments. This includes the review of applicable military, defense and/or drawing specifications to understand standards.
+ Proven experience performing or learning to perform measurements using hand tools including calipers, micrometers, portable or fixed coordinate measuring equipment, or other precision electronic measurement devices to take direct measurements and assess adherence based on required dimensions and tolerances. This will include having the skills to complete measurements on angles, thickness, dimensions, and other characteristics specified on drawings

Job Description
+ This candidate will be responsible for prioritizing, reviewing, and delivering First Article Inspections (FAI's) for sustaining parts and development projects
+ The candidate will be responsible for performing First Article Inspection (FAI) assessments per AS9102 for verification of customer/client requirements
+ The role will require metrics tracking on a continual basis to meet the increasing FAI load throughout the year
+ Develop and operate quality management systems to drive quality excellence and business performance
+ Manage process improvement efforts using quality methodologies and principles
+ Provide operational excellence practices and training
+ Identify and assess enterprise risks, developing an integrated approach to actively manage those risks
+ Analyze designated performance measures and reports to ensure work is consistently and effectively performed
Job Requirements
+ Must be a United States Citizen
Basic Qualifications
+ Associate's degree in engineering, sciences, finance and/or accounting - OR - minimum of 6 months experience in manufacturing, engineering, finance and/or accounting
+ Minimum of 1-year experience with Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
