DESCRIPTION:

The Project Engineer will develop cost-effective, timely, high-impact capital improvement projects that meet business growth, operational stability, EHS, and production quality needs by providing expert judgment, analysis, and direction to a project team and by identifying and executing capital projects that address operational deficiencies, meet business opportunity needs, and progress in improving manufacturing facilities, technology, and quality.

Responsible for the installation of projects including direct supervision of construction forces and assuring a safe, workable installation.
  • Develop project design by utilizing educational foundations in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, process control and unit operations as well as third party expertise in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical and Regulatory Compliance for design development, system analysis and design comparisons
  • Plan capital resources and manage project cost by defining facilities and equipment current and future needs, developing Progressive Cost Estimates, analyzing Competitive Bids, and coordinating with vendors and subcontractors on managing Project Costs. Responsible for tracking and managing timeline, spend, and forecasting of responsible projects.
  • Promote strong stakeholder communication and awareness by means of staged project reviews, detail design / FMEA reviews, Business Case Development presentation and advocacy, Project Commissioning and Close Out Planning
  • Promote innovation in capital improvements by maintaining technical knowledge through ongoing relationships with equipment, systems vendors, participation in professional development in chemical engineering, instrumentation, automation and project management; and through dissemination of knowledge to stakeholders

• Owning the Process Engineer modeling programs

• Building out the technology loop model using different software such as HYSYS to drive economic decision-making in unit operations.

• Supporting other Physics-based modeling programs

• Providing turnaround program technical support and technical scoping as needed

• Contributing to process safety and environmental performance through Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) programs, Management of Changes (MOC), investigations team member or leader

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering

• Minimum of ten (10) years of refining or chemical plant process engineering experience

• Previous experience with Reforming, Extraction, Parex, Xylene Isomerization, Cumene, units

What Will Put You Ahead

• Fifteen (15) years of refinery experience

• Five (5) + years of Process Engineering experience
with Chemicals units

• Experience as a Process Engineer or Project Engineer leading projects in an oil refinery

• Process modeling simulation with Aspen HYSYS

• Experience leading cross-functional teams

This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un-escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
