The Role

We are looking to hire a highly efficient driver helper to assist company drivers with all deliveries.

Essential Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To
  • Loading and unloading company products
  • Completing accurate delivery records and reports
  • Reporting all delivery-related problems to senior staff
  • Effectively communicating with clients and customers
  • Assisting with the unloading of the delivery vehicle at the end of each shift.
  • Obtaining clients' and customers' signatures as an acknowledgment of having received the delivered products.
  • Ensuring that all safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs frequently
  • Ability to work in a refrigerated warehouse environment for up to 8 hours per shift
  • Ability to work as a team member-works as a co-worker

POSITION SUMMARY: The Driver Helper rides on the vehicle and assists a Driver in providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers who reside on a designated residential route.   • Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.

  • Operate packing mechanism and various levers and handles to activate the lifting and loading mechanism

  • Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck, if applicable.

  • Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy; report any safety issues on standard reports.

  • Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.

  • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.

  • Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.

  • Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure all customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Assists Driver in delivering and off-loading product at customer facility. With assistance from Driver will carry product (i.e., drywall, windows, doors, etc) to a designated area at the customer site.
  • Delivers customer orders to customer site using a company van or pickup truck. Obtains signed proof of delivery.
  • Drives pilot vehicle for oversize loads, ensuring compliance with appropriate safety regulations.
  • Inspects and maintains delivery vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.
  • Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one (1) year experience performing these or similar tasks, or equivalent combination of education, training or experience. Valid driver's license required.

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to read and understand machine and equipment diagrams and system schematics
  • Knowledgeable of escort service regulations

  • Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds frequently and on occasion may be required to lift and carry, with assistance, up to 200 pounds.
  • May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
  • Must be able to climb up and down into cab, twist torso for 360 degree visibility, use arms to operate controls, etc.
