SUMMARY
Working independently, builds and enhances an active network of qualified Mentors (adult foster families) through strategic recruitment and selection initiatives, and following Network/licensing guidelines. Develops and implements recruiting tracking tools and strategies. Measures success of campaign effectiveness, creating and designing new campaigns as needed to continuously attract new Mentors. Conducts home study evaluations, including psychosocial assessments. Primary focus of job is recruitment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below.
- Manages the recruitment strategy and process for assigned area. Builds a prospect network and related campaigns to establish an ongoing pipeline of candidates. Conducts cold calls and informational screening meetings, reviews applications, medical examinations, and references. Develops and coordinates related advertising.
- Conducts and attends networking and marketing events and represents the company at job fairs, promotional presentations, and other events to recruit mentors.
- Raises awareness in the community, through visiting community locations and leaders, and following up on referrals to source potential Mentors and further enhance community relationships. Develops and maintains professional alliances.
- Screens potential Mentors following Network and State licensing guidelines, such as psychological interviews, background checks, home visits, meeting with families.
- Conducts orientation, home study evaluations and pre-service orientation.
- Develops, monitors and maintains allocated marketing budget and partners with internal marketing resources to produce materials. May develop own materials. Maintains appropriate records in compliance with internal funding source requirements.
- Records and reports on the statistics necessary to measure the effectiveness of various recruitment efforts; reports regularly on pipeline activity.
- Works with Program Director and other designated Program staff to facilitate client match meetings.
- Compiles and submits application packet when all components are received and advises management on whether or not to proceed to the next step of the certification process.
- Develops informative activities and programs about company services. May participate in the development and implementation of mentor retention programs.
- Utilizes CRM system for customer tracking and management.
- Performs other related duties and activities as required. Hours are likely to fluctuate.

Position Summary:
Family Services of the Merrimack Valley is hiring a full-time Mentor for its Amigos Mentoring Program, for its Amigos Mentoring Program, funded by the EOHHS Strong Communities Initiative Grant which supports community-based violence prevention and intervention programs that promote equitable access to protective factors. Amigos Mentoring provides positive adult role models who form consistent and positive relationships with youth, boosting protective factors meant to reduce the likelihood of gun and community violence. This program provides bi-weekly group mentoring, monthly one-on-one mentoring, and case management to 14 middle school youth (ages 11–14) from Lawrence who are at risk of involvement in violence. The Mentor will offer strength-based support and help youth increase their sense of safety and security, guided by principles of positive youth development and trauma-informed care.
The ideal candidate will serve as a positive role model and help youth develop essential life skills in communication, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation. The role emphasizes relationship-building, goal setting, and skill development to empower youth to thrive at home, in school, and in their community.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Provide strength-focused one-on-one and group mentoring to 7 assigned youth for one year.
- Enhance mentees' self-confidence and cultivate a more optimistic outlook for the future.
- Support youth in developing life skills: communication, conflict resolution, financial literacy, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.
- Help mentees set and achieve personal goals and explore new interests.
- Co-facilitate bi-monthly youth circles and wellness groups.
- Provide transportation for mentees to and from monthly individual after school sessions.
- Provide guidance and support in navigating challenges and making positive choices.
- Plan and lead youth outings and outdoor activities.
- Collaborate and support program staff with outreach, recruitment and enrollment activities to ensure the overall success of the program.
- Maintain regular communication with mentees' parents or guardians to provide updates on progress and address any concerns.
- Support adherence to grant requirements and alignment with the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring.
- Document mentoring goals, outcomes, progress and activities in the Mentor Core database.
- Complete an individualized Life Plan to help youth determine in what area of their lives they would like to make a change, set goals and monitor their progress.
- Contribute to a collaborative and positive team culture by actively participating in team meetings, discussions, communicating ideas, challenges, and successes openly and professionally.
- Participate in ongoing professional development training.

Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an associate's degree in a human service field of study or minimum 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Familiarity with child development, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing and effective youth engagement techniques and strategies preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to establish positive and trusting relationships with youth and families from diverse backgrounds including Latinx and LGBTQIA+ communities.
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding of the unique challenges faced by middle school-aged youth, while consistently setting and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Our Youth Mentor, also known as "Life Skills & Resiliency Coordinator", provides services to youth (ages 9 to 17), helping them build life skills and resiliency, and empowering them to find purpose and direction. We support youth who have behavioral needs, are experiencing challenging family dynamics, truancy challenges, and/or pending juvenile charges. We promote positive social interaction, educational growth, life skills and coping skills.
As a Youth Mentor, you will work directly with youth who are referred by various children's services, such as Children & Youth Services (CYS), Juvenile Probation Office (JPO), and mental health providers. Part of your role will be to assist youth face-to-face – you will help with homework, teach household skills, display positive coping skills, etc. The other part of your role will focus on administrative and advocacy tasks such as assisting with intake, reaching out to school staff, and communicating with referral sources and partnering agencies about client progress.
Youth Mentor Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, generally 12PM-8 PM.This schedule will begin with an ongoing office presence, with the expected movement into a hybrid position upon approval from supervisor based on successfully carrying out essential responsibilities.

Provide testimony at all hearings deemed necessary by collaborative agencies.

- This role qualifies for hybrid remote work, subject to our agency Hybrid Remote Work Policy and supervisor approval. Education:

This production position works in a production area processing poultry products. Requires working with live poultry, raw and/or cooked products. The My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Fellows Mentor will play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting high school students participating in the New York State Education Department's MBK Fellows Program. Mentors will be responsible for helping Fellows meet program milestones through structured support, engagement, and leadership development activities. This is a part-time, project-based role that requires consistent interaction with assigned Fellows and participation in statewide MBK events.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Facilitate regular, one-on-one meetings with assigned MBK Fellow(s) to provide guidance, encouragement, and accountability.
- Support and oversee the planning, execution, and completion of a Fellow-led service project that benefits the Fellow's school and/or community, aligned with one or more MBK initiatives.

This is a competitive Schenectady County Civil Service position. Candidates must meet civil service requirements for appointment. Candidates must currently hold this title or be reachable on the civil service list when available. If a list is not available, this will be a provisional appointment and the successful candidate must take the appropriate civil service examination and be reachable. Candidates must live in Schenectady County or one of the counties contiguous to Schenectady County.

The security department's goal is to maintain a safe work environment for all staff, visitors, patients and physicians. Security is responsible for safety at the hospital, medical office building Village North Home, plus parking lots and roadways. Security provides a visible presence to deter problems, in addition the security officers are trained to assist with violent people and situations.
**Preferred Qualifications**
**Role Purpose**
Responsibilities include continuous patrols of the medical center, while being attentive and alert to the safety and welfare of visitors, patients, employees and hospital property. Other responsibilities include the implementation of staff education and professional development programs that ensure officer maintain required certifications. Acts in the role of a department trainer for last two phases of new hire training and for re-certification training for existing officers.
**Responsibilities**
+ Individuals must be 21 years or older to work in this position.
+ Responds to emergency situations according to approved, established Security Department protocol.
+ Completes routine patrol activities while being alert and attentive to the safety and welfare of visitors, patients, volunteers, staff, employees, and hospital property.
+ Mentors officers in areas of job performance identified as needing improvement. Documents actions taken to address these identified areas. Conducts training for new hire officers in basic core tasks routinely assigned to Public Safety officers.
+ Functions as a department resource trainer and conducts training necessary for officers to maintain mandated certification and licensing. Field trainer for officers when come out of Academy. Get every new hire for 10 day- shifts then officer goes to their specific shift for 5 additional days for OTJ training for their specific shift duties.
+ Completes required documentation for all annual department training conducted. This includes certification, re-certification and in-service training courses for existing officers. Documents in detail all remedial training addressing officer deficiencies. Examples include: CPR, ASP(ASP Baton/Collapsible Baton) Training, Defensive Tactics, Non-violent Crisis Intervention
