Job Description

Description:At Lorenz Clinic, psychotherapy isnt a product- its an interpersonal process. Were a mission-driven, clinician-led family psychology institute where systems thinking, reflective practice, and relational depth form the foundation of our work. While many clinics are reorganizing themselves around productivity quotas, algorithmic care, and interchangeable services, weve chosen a different pathone that centers integrity, intellectual rigor, and clinical maturity.

Here, excellence isnt just preserved, its cultivated. We selectively hire full-time licensed therapists who want to work at depth, not on autopilot. Our team is made up of clinicians who approach complexity with humility, think systemically, and use the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for meaningful _change_, not just symptom management.

If youre looking for more than checklists and caseloads, if you want to practice in a thoughtful, rigorous, and human-centered clinical community, you may have just found your next professional home.

*_About Lorenz Clinic_*

Lorenz Clinic is not your typical mental health clinicwe are a clinician-led, post-graduate training institute focused on Family Psychology, grounded in the belief that psychotherapy should honor human complexity. Our mission is to heal the world one relationship at a time.

Were proud to be Minnesotas first family psychology specialty clinic and the states first home for organized Post-Masters Fellowships. But our aim has never been scaleits always been excellence. Thats why we hire fewer than 5% of applicants and invest deeply in those we do.

Therapists who thrive here are relational by orientation and rigorous by training. Theyre energized by reflective practice, conceptual thinking, and the shared task of advancing the field. We believe that symptoms are contextual, and that therapists need supportive systems of their own to do meaningful clinical work. Thats why weve embedded Reflective Practice into the core infrastructure of the clinicnot as a feature, but as a foundation.

Training at Lorenz is not a sideline, its a lifeline. Roughly 40% of our clinical team is engaged in supervision, teaching, or development work at any given time. This is a place that thinks. Our training programs are nationally respected and clinically rich, and they sharpen every clinician, whether or not theyre directly involved.

Weve also built an evidence-based Clinician Wellness Roadmap rooted in fairness, peer support, and professional autonomy. We believe therapists deserve the same care and containment we expect them to offer. Our goal is to foster a system where clinicians can grow, reflect, and practice at the top of their craftwithout compromising themselves in the process.

*_About the Role_*

At Lorenz Clinic, licensed psychotherapists serve in applied, meaningful roles, providing diagnostic assessment, psychotherapy, and treatment planning to a diverse clientele across the lifespan. Clinicians practice within their areas of competence and specialty, with support for developing clinical interests over time.

Our clinics are embedded in Main Street communities, places where behavioral health access is too often out of reach. Were not a boutique practice. Were a relational home for those committed to the social mission of psychotherapy. Over 43% of our clients use Medicaid, and our sliding fee scale goes to zero, a tangible reflection of our values. Despite the complexity of our client population, our no-show rate is under 10%, a testament to the strength of our engagement practices and the quality of therapeutic relationships.

Reflective Practice, ongoing consultation, and clinician well-being are central to our operations. We run a committee-driven Wellness Roadmap, backed by evidence and co-designed with staff input. This roadmap supports manageable caseloads, fairness, autonomy, and relational support, values our clinicians say make a real difference.

In anonymous, third-party Gallup surveys, 95% of our clinicians say they would recommend Lorenz to a colleague. But its not just the systems that set us apart, its the people. In recent feedback, clinicians shared:

* We have the best people the best therapists and the best humans. Senior Clinician
* I could make a mistake. Practicum Student
* I knew Id get through it because of the support. Post-Masters Fellow
* I have my life back. New Hire
* Such a cohesive group. Clinical Manager
* This is my therapy home my forever job. Senior Clinician
* Such an organized experience. Trainee

Clinicians participate in regular case consultation, Grand Rounds, and team meetings as part of our collaborative culture. We are a place where clinical rigor meets community impact, where therapists grow alongside others who are deeply committed to both their craft and each other.

*_Key Responsibilities_*

As a licensed clinician at Lorenz Clinic, youll be entrusted with providing psychotherapy that takes into account the full complexity of human development, relational dynamics, and systemic context. Your responsibilities will include:

* Deliver psychotherapy and diagnostic assessment within your clinical areas of competence
* Develop treatment approaches that reflect relational, cultural, and developmental understanding
* Engage in regular consultation, Grand Rounds, and reflective supervision with your peers
* Participate in a learning-focused, feedback-rich clinical community
* Maintain accurate, timely, and clinically meaningful documentation
* Uphold Lorenzs commitment to integrity, humility, and systems-based care
* Other duties as assigned within a collaborative, clinician-led system

Requirements:We are seeking clinicians who combine clinical competence with humility, reflective capacity, systems thinking, and a commitment to ongoing development. Our most successful applicants are seasoned interventionists who also remain curious learners.

*_Job Requirements_*

The most successful candidates will evidence a track record of service as an interventionist with a high degree of professional activity within the field. The position requirements include but are not limited to:

* A masters or doctoral degree in a mental health profession from an accredited academic program
* Full, independent, unrestricted licensure as a mental health professional in Minnesota (LP, LMFT, LICSW, or LPCC). Pre-licensed therapists such as LGSWs or LAMFTs should instead consider Lorenz's Post-Masters Fellowship or Postdoctoral Fellowship positions unless licensure is imminent within four months.
* The ability to approach psychotherapy from systemic, relational, and developmental theoretical perspectives.
* At least 2 years providing clinical supervision (preferred)
* Formal training in child, couples, family therapy, relational / interpersonal, or contemporary psychodynamic psychotherapy (preferred)

_Note for Post-Graduate, Pre-Licensed Applicants:_

If youre a recent graduate pursuing licensure and are excited about this kind of structured, scope-aligned counseling, we encourage you to apply. While this job posting is for fully and independently licensed psychotherapists, we occasionally fill separate, related roles through our Post-Masters Fellowship Program. Pre-licensed professionals will be considered under a separate title and pay structure that reflects the training and supervision tailored to your stage of professional development. Simply indicate your licensure status in your application, and well route your materials to the appropriate hiring stream.

*_Benefits_*

Full-time, independently licensed clinicians enjoy a robust benefits package that includes:

* Student Loan Repayment
* Paid Burnout Time
* Up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave regardless of gender
* Annual CEU allowance
* A 401k with 401k matching
* Medical insurance
* Dental insurance
* Vision insurance
* Life insurance
* Short- and long-term disability insurance
* Paid time off
* Paid holidays
* Paid service/volunteer time
* Paid continuing education release days
* Employee assistance program
* Flexible schedule
* Professional development assistance
* Healthcare Savings Account
* Mileage Reimbursement
* Flexible in-person or hybrid work options
* Case consultation w/ CEUs

We dont just offer benefits, we offer time. Time to rest, to grow, to reflect, and to stay inspired. Our burnout leave, CEU time, and flexible schedules are designed to prevent burnout before it starts. And as an active training clinic, most clinicians at Lorenz earn about 100 hours per year of board-approved continuing education just from showing up to work. The clinic hosts an annual conference, monthly grand rounds, and four hours per month of case consultation with a specialist.

While this is primarily an in-person role, most clinicians at Lorenz Clinic incorporate some hybrid work depending on licensure, program fit, and clinical needs. For an unabridged job description or more information about our benefits including student loan repayment program, please contact human resources.

*_Compensation_*

The compensation hiring range for this role is $75,000 - $25,000, which is dependent on candidate qualifications, program fit, chosen caseload, and competencies. The hiring range for master's-level licensees is 75,000 - 106,250 per year, while the hiring range for licensed psychologists is 106,000 - 125,000 per year. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt, benefits-eligible, W2 role.

Candidates without independent licensure will be reviewed through our pre-licensed pathway and considered for related roles under the title Post-Master's Fellow. The compensation range listed above is for fully and independently licensed clinicians.

*_Application Process_*

Selection into our practice is competitive. Whereas the biggest, loudest clinics hire anyone and everyone, we tend to hire under 5% because were focused on quality and coherence, which means you'll find yourself surrounded by a carefully curated team of inspiring colleagues. Cover letters are not required but do stand out, as they help us learn more about you and ensure the best fit for all-involved. Application materials may be submitted through the clinics job board at
