SummaryThe Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, Anatomic Pathology(AP) section of the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS), is currently recruiting for one (1) Supervisory Cytotechnologist in Oklahoma City, OK.DutiesHelpThe incumbent at this level has full supervisory responsibility for a staff of non-supervisory personnel and performs a broad range of highly complex testing and procedures for the pathological diagnosis of various disease conditions from cellular samples of the human body, including rendering independent diagnosis on a subgroup of gynecologic specimens, and assisting in adequacy assessment of fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy specimens obtained from procedures performed in Interventional Radiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology and others.The incumbent at this level has full supervisory responsibility for a staff of nonsupervisory personnel of Cytotechnologists, Histopathology Technicians, and Histopathology TechniciansMajor Duties and Responsibilities:Understanding of federal and state laws and regulations, laboratory accrediting and regulatory requirements sufficient to develop section plans and procedures consistent with requirements.Understanding of quality management principles sufficient to establish and monitor a laboratory quality management program, and/or education and training of laboratory staff.Experience in interpersonal relations and conflict resolution to deal with employees, team leaders, and managers.Performs the full range of supervisory duties and skill in supervising a group of individuals.Planning, organizing, set priorities, work as a team member, and effectively complete assignments.Understanding of specimen requirements for tests performed in-house and referred to reference laboratories.Setting short and/or long-term goals for the section and conduct studies on technical and administrative problems, including personnel shortages, organizational structure, new technology, etc.Plans and schedules on-going work.   • The working title of this position is Hydrologist in Charge. As a Hydrologist in Charge, the incumbent will serve as senior manager for hydrologic forecast operations and services within a River Forecast Center (RFC) area of responsibility. Must be able to lead and direct the resolution of major hydrologic/hydrometeorological issues. Responsible for resolving a multitude of problems associated with technical procedures and systems. Provide technical oversight for the content of hydrologic services provided to the public in the RFC area of responsibility.
  • Lead River Forecast Center (RFC) staff in achieving National Weather Service (NWS) goals and objectives. Involved in the many cooperative efforts with other National Weather Service (NWS) offices as well as water management and hydrologic-oriented agencies outside the NWS. Manages the RFC involvement in these areas and provides overall direction of the staff effort given to maintaining and improving a variety of RFC services to WFOs and outside authorities and agencies. Provides supervision for the entire RFC staff and is the most knowledgeable person on overall operations of the center.
  • Interact on a frequent basis with the Meteorologists In Charge (MIC) at WFOs in the River Forecast Center (RFC) area to maintain and improve support to Weather Forecast Office (WFO) operations and to enhance the operational application of RFC products in each WFO. This includes management of the regional water resources program for Alaska and Pacific Regions.
  • Lead efforts to optimize the exchange of data and the cooperative support between the RFC and water management agencies.
