Job Description

Perform assigned Porter functions as part of the Technical Center Workshop team. Partial responsibilities include vehicle logistic support, damage assessment, staging, receiving and dispatch.

What Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:

  • As per Technical Center's rework schedule, coordinate the transportation of vehicles from Technical Center in support of the rework process
  • Signing out of keys from the key track system
  • Locating assigned units
  • Physical evaluation to assess any visible/apparent damage (not limited to e.g. dents, cracked windshields, scratches) to account for damage
  • Short test drive/lap vehicles to identify any fault/service codes and/or drivability issues to be addressed before release (not limited to e.g. check engine light, service required, vibrations, road noise, poor braking, over/under inflated tires)
  • Removal of plates and documentation of which vehicle they were removed from
  • Staging of vehicles to be collected in the designated collection zone
  • Updating various spreadsheets with units and carrier

For Inbound Units:

  • Scheduling delivery with Manheim
  • Physical vehicle evaluation
  • Collection of all keys to deliver to Technical Center for Keys Track System entry
  • Short test drive/lap to identify any fault/service codes and/or drivability issues to be addressed
  • Parking of delivered units
  • Interact with customers daily which include business personnel and logistical companies
  • Assist in vehicle pick up and exchanges with employees, including scheduling, pick up and preparing vehicles
  • Receive and dispatch vehicles to and from the transporters. Complete the transportation paperwork. Secure the vehicle and lock all keys in the Key Track System

  • Pool Fleet Maintenance
  • Pre/Post use fuel fill up
  • Pre/post cleaning
  • Mileage/parking location audits
  • VIP deliveries and handovers

JOB SUMMARY :

Proficiency in the broad scope of machining skill sets of both traditionally manual, and advanced CNC operations.

Read blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and interpret GD&T

Use micrometers, calipers, indicators and all commonly applied measuring tools with familiarity of close tolerance dimensioning.

Utilization of math functions including trigonometry describing 3D shapes both manually and within CAD environments is fundamental.

Experience in Solidworks and Mastercam modeling and toolpath software are primary assets to our operations.

Set up and operate CNC machines including writing and editing G code and M code programs as required. Proficiency in taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting, and editing with continuous improvement in mind is imperative.

Operate an overhead crane and drive a forklift.

CNC Machinery experience includes 3 axis vertical mill (primarily) and lathe operations.

Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Maintain equipment using preventative maintenance.

Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
Experience in 3D metal patternmaking preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
  • Required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Moderate walking, standing, lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work around moving objects, and with machinery with moving parts.

SKILLS AND EDUCATION :

General Motors has a need for qualified Mechanical Journeypersons (Pipefitters). You will work under minimal supervision with a high level of independent judgement and problem solving. You should be flexible enough to take on and tackle multiple job assignments in a shift.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures

  • Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components (e. g. bearings, seals, details, carriers, etc.) on industrial machinery such as shafting, motors, generators, air compressors, engines, pumps, cylinders, gears, couplings, linkages, ball screws, high speed CNC spindles, coolant systems and filters, and combustion equipment and valves

  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems

  • Use various hand or power tools for measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, bending, soldering, assembling, joining, and installing pipes, valves, and fittings

  • Read and interpret blueprints for the mechanical operation and assembly of conveyor systems, material handling systems, robots, and other automation

  • Operate mobile equipment (e.g. forklifts, vertical lifts, cranes)

  • Determine loading requirements to rig equipment and material for lifting

  • Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes

  • Fabricate punches, tools, steel rule tools and t-sets to exact specifications

  • Plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies using blueprints, sketches, or models

  • Determine quality of finished products, ensuring defect-free parts, by verifying dimensions, alignment, and clearances for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators

Additional Job Description

  • At least six (6) years of related experience in Pipefitting or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completionin Pipefitting

**Responsibilities**
The Engineering Tech Center is responsible for providing global technical expertise in the engineering sciences related to Process Engineering and secondary/tertiary loop disciplines. This includes knowledge and stewardship of the following: First Principles, unit operations, Equipment Flow Diagrams, Capability Calculations, Material & Energy Balances, Facilities (fitness for use), Root Cause applications, Equipment and Unit Operation Changes/Improvements including new technologies, Scale-ups, Periodic Reviews, Process Safety, Maintenance/Reliability, etc. This function has a global presence. This team provides engineering support to global manufacturing sites for the customer network, Global Facilities Delivery (GFD), development sites, as well as external manufacturing organizations and alliances.
This Aseptic Process Engineering position serves as a technical resource in Aseptic Processing and Parenteral Technologies such as Equipment Preparation, Formulation, Filling, Freeze Drying, and Isolation systems, providing expert process engineering support globally. Parenteral sites supported include Indy Parenteral (IPM), Fegersheim, Sesto, Suzhou, Research Triangle Park (RTP), Concord and Alzey. This position also applies technical knowledge to effectively guide and support Lilly's partner companies and contract manufacturers.
_Key Objectives/Deliverables_
+ Technical and Discipline leadership -Partners with other technical staff to direct discipline activities, oversight of the community, new technology development and technology assessments, creation and maintenance of Engineering Standards, Master specifications and Best Practices for the discipline, and coaching and mentorship of junior engineering staff.
+ Safety and Compliance - Ensure personal and team compliance with all applicable regulatory and corporate policy requirements; ensure appropriate safety practices and procedures are in place and are followed to prevent injuries; ensures the ETC meets current Quality expectations and is a part of actively monitoring evolving Quality and other regulatory expectations related to engineering
+ Consultation - Assists sites globally with technical evaluations, master planning, technology assessments, and specific problem resolution including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
+ Knowledge sharing - Provides ongoing technical support to site engineering groups, domestic and global. Serves as a mentor to Lilly engineers with a focus on technical development and functional capability building. Interfaces with and develops site technical experts in Parenteral Engineering. Reviews and prepares protocols and technical reports.
+ External Influence - Monitors and, when appropriate, influences change in external codes and standards on Lilly's behalf. Ensures external learnings are effectively communicated within Lilly and works to ensure ongoing compliance with these learnings.
+ Major Capital Support - Provides technical consulting and leadership, both conceptual and detailed design, to Global Facilities Delivery on major capital projects. Will often lead multi-functional/multi-site project teams.
+ External Manufacturing Support - Provides technical consulting and leadership to Lilly's external manufacturing partners. Responsibilities will be range from due diligence, tech transfer, engineering batches to deviation investigation support. Will work closely with cross-functional projects teams managing the relationships with our partners
+ Platform Owner - Provides Network technical leadership, oversight, and ownership for designated equipment platforms or processes. Influences platform alignment across the Network to maximize project delivery, operational and maintenance efficiencies, and replicated cost benefits. Develops strong relationships with our Original Equipment Manufacturers (QEMs) and leverages these partnerships as we develop new designs, trouble-shoot equipment issues and maintain our equipment.
+ Innovation - Investigates, develops, and integrates emerging technology and capabilities applicable to the Parenteral manufacturing process to meet production and compliance requirements.
**Basic Qualifications**
+ Bachelorsdegree in engineering or related technical field.
+ Minimum 5-15 plus years in cGMP manufacturing or manufacturing support experience
+ Extensive knowledge of **parenteral processing equipment** and operations including formulation, filling, freeze drying, and isolation equipment. Deliverables include input and support of facility design, equipment layout, technical specifications, and equipment optimization, testing and qualification.
**Additional preferences**
+ Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems and implement projects.
+ Familiarity with technology advances in vial, cartridge, and syringe container closure systems.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills to be effective in a team based situation.
+ Ability to work across boundaries (functional, geographic, external company,etc)
+ Demonstrated learning agility
+ Ability to work effectively with outside suppliers.
