Job Summary:
The OTR - Tractor Trailer Driver is responsible for safely driving/controlling the Brink's vehicles to and from various customer pick-up and delivery locations. This position requires the enforcement of rules to protect the premises and property of Brink's and its customers, as well as the safety of persons on the premises of Brink's and its customers. In addition the position will interface with other BGS Internal branches, with division customers and where necessary perform security and safety functions at said locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the safety, security and control of the tractor trailer unit at all times
- Guard the Messenger/Co Driver during the actual delivery or pick up of valuables at a customer's location.
- Maintain radio communication with the Co-Driver/Messenger and/or other vehicle crew and with dispatch personnel/branch personnel throughout the delivery/shipping process.
- Ensure the safe and secure loading and offloading of the tractor trailer.
- Report all faults experienced during the trip/day's activity and ensure that all information is transmitted to branch leadership
- Complete appropriate driving route documentation
- Ensure overall cleanliness of the vehicle's interior
- Cross-train and perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of Tractor Trailer / OTR driving experience
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Valid Class A CDL
- Satisfy all applicable Department of Transportation requirements
- A valid firearms permit or ability to pass applicable firearms licensing requirements
- A valid guard card or ability to obtain a guard card or any other required licenses
Preferred Qualifications:
- OTR long distance Tractor Trailer experience in a related industry
- Worked in an environment servicing a diverse customer base with sensitive requirements including time and value of cargo.

Job Purpose: The Over the Road Truck Driver transports goods and equipment from one location to another.

**Job Description**
**Position Purpose:**
Responsible for safely transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials from the customer site to the appropriate designated sites using van trailers, straight trucks, flatbeds, tankers, roll-off frames, or other waste carrying equipment. Ensures that the condition of the material packaging meets the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications, inspects manifests and shipping paperwork for accuracy, and maintains current transportation permits for all areas traveled. Abides by all regulations set forth by DOT, EPA, state and local governments, and VES-TS policies and procedures.
**Primary Duties/responsibilities:**
+ Perform daily inspections of vehicle and/or trailer prior to driving to ensure safety and integrity of equipment going to designated sites.
+ Prior to transporting materials reviews shipment records, manifests, container labeling, vehicle placards, and integrity of loaded drums, roll-off boxes or bulk tankers.
+ Ensure that DOT requirements such as load weight limits, driver log books, Vehicle Inspection Records, transportation permits, insurance cards, fuel trip reports, IFTA fuel stickers, or other paperwork is up to date and valid.
+ Consults with customers pertaining to load conditions, drum counts or paperwork inconsistencies to ensure that materials can be properly transported to designated site(s)
+ Notify immediate supervisor of any moving violations and/or accidents in-route to and/or from sites.
+ Assist in the loading/unloading of materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment.
+ Responsible for assisting with housekeeping as required.
+ Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
**Education / Experience / Background:**
+ High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
+ Prior commercial driving experience required
**Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:**
+ Familiarity with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations pertaining to the transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials
+ Strong team player
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
+ Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
+ Strong customer service orientation
**Required Certification / Licenses / Training:**
+ Valid Class A Commercial Driving License (CDL) as required
+ Hazmat (H) endorsement required
+ 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred
