ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Deliver hands on educational programing to schools focused on environmental science grades 1st-12th
2. Facilitate ropes, target sports and aquatics related activities and programming for all retreat guests
3. Manage a group of 15-20 students.
4. Coordinate with other specialist and directors on programing.
5. Provide direct supervision to youth while teaching and leading activities.
6. All other duties as assigned by the director.
7. Shared housing, meals when dining hall is running, Wi-Fi, access to camp activities when not in use, job training/certifications and more!

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA.
2. This position requires experience working with youth and preference given to those with teaching experience.
3. Have or willing to obtain First Aid, CPR, Lifeguard and Ropes certifications or training.
4. A degree or working towards a degree in environmental science, youth development, teaching, or relevant experience and background knowledge of outdoor education or camp.
5. Willingness to have fun, laugh, and be silly and a love of nature.

Nurses are responsible for the care and supervision of all medical services. This care includes; looking after ill or injured campers or staff, administering medication(s), communicating with parents, teachers, and staff, organization of medical information, medications, and first-aid kits, as well as keeping records of camper visits. Camps will be staffed 24 hours a day with days depending on
the program. For Outdoor Education, the first half of the week (check-in time Monday to check-out time Wednesday), or the second half of the week (check-in time Wednesday to check-out time Friday) for campers and staff. Shifts adjust depending on program schedules. For Summer Camp, camps will be staffed 24 hours of the day from
check-in time Sunday to check-out time Saturday for campers and staff.
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
* Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Colorado
* Current CPR and First Aid certifications / BLS
* Current General Liability Insurance
* Must pass a CBI/FBI and TRAILS background check
* Illness and injury management
* Experience working with children and youth, preferred

* Ability to maintain health forms and paperwork

* -- Ensure safe delegation of nursing interventions to unlicensed assistive personnel by adhering to the provisions of the Colorado Nurse Practice Act (CRS 12-38-101).
* -- Participate as the health expert on the RTI, special education and 504 teams by mitigating health related obstacles to learning.
* -- Identify students with health needs requiring modifications or accommodations in the school setting or during school sponsored events and activities.
* -- Assure student health information is protected in accordance with Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
* -- Participate in comprehensive health education programs and school health policy development.
* -- Provide direct health services for the student when appropriate.

Will be responsible for daily management and oversight of adventure-based recreation programs, professional staff and student employees overseeing the operations of those areas. These areas will include outdoor adventure trips/workshops, indoor climbing center, outdoor adventure equipment rental center, challenge course, and management of selected outdoor locations on campus.

- Assists with the implementation of strategies for revenue generation through fee-based programs, and external partnerships.
- Travels within various outdoor locations and campus worksites using campus vehicles to administer adventure programming and transport supplies.
- Operates the indoor climbing center including staff hiring/training, route setting, participant management software tracking, and risk management.
- Administers the outdoor adventure equipment rental center including equipment purchasing, maintenance/repair, and rental management software.
- Develops and operates a Team and Leadership Development Challenge Course with both high and low elements.
- Assist in the creation and management of Outdoor Recreation Based Campus Land Management.
- Develops and administers the budget for all adventure related areas.
- Regularly reports assessment and statistical data pertaining to operations, participation and staff development.

- Performs related duties as assigned or required. Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX, Clery and other compliance requirements.

Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Experiential Outdoor Education and Adventure provides department leadership to create a vision and build an experiential outdoor education and adventure program. Will be responsible for daily management and oversight of adventure-based recreation programs, professional staff and student employees overseeing the operations of those areas. These areas will include outdoor adventure trips/workshops, indoor climbing center, outdoor adventure equipment rental center, challenge course, and management of selected outdoor locations on campus.
Essential Functions
- Under general direction from the Executive Director of Recreation & Wellbeing and Associate Director for RecWell Programs and Student Development, administers all aspects of an outdoor adventure trip and workshop program, including planning, student staff hiring/training, and assessment.
- Assists with the implementation of strategies for revenue generation through fee-based programs, and external partnerships.
- Travels within various outdoor locations and campus worksites using campus vehicles to administer adventure programming and transport supplies.
- Operates the indoor climbing center including staff hiring/training, route setting, participant management software tracking, and risk management.
- Administers the outdoor adventure equipment rental center including equipment purchasing, maintenance/repair, and rental management software.
- Develops and operates a Team and Leadership Development Challenge Course with both high and low elements.
- Assist in the creation and management of Outdoor Recreation Based Campus Land Management.
- Develops and administers the budget for all adventure related areas.
- Regularly reports assessment and statistical data pertaining to operations, participation and staff development.

Job Description & Duties:
•Assists in planning, programming, and oversight of environmental education programs and community environmental education and nature programs.
•Collaborates with other Outdoor Programs Program Coordinators to provide intentional programming that meets participant goals
•General oversight and property management at the Madison School Forest located in the town of Verona:
o Inventories and maintains equipment and files in nature center and other buildings
o Participates as a member of the School Forest Advisory Board including attending meetings as scheduled
o Communicates any site issues and addresses when appropriate
•Under the guidance of the MSCR Program Specialist:
o Provides orientation, training, and coaching to Outdoor Instructors on environmental education
o Annually evaluates Outdoor Programs Instructors with support from Outdoor Programs Specialists and in collaboration with other Program Coordinators
o Communicates program plans, changes, and expectations to seasonal Outdoor Instructors.
•Supports groups to help plan environmental education and overnight programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Outdoor Recreation & Education Activity Area in the Physical Activities Course ( PAC ) program, a part of the School of Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences, in the College of Health at Oregon State University invites applications for one or more fixed term, non-tenure track full/part-time Instructor ( PAC ) positions to teach courses on a term-by-term basis for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The PAC Program partners with the Adventure Leadership Institute to provide Outdoor Recreation and Education courses. 96% Teaching: Teach courses in Outdoor and Recreation Programming.
· Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning. Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students. Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs. Employ available instructional technology, i.e., the internet, telecourses, interactive technology, when appropriate. We inspire, engage, and support the community to increase the urban tree canopy and address climate threats and environmental justice in Los Angeles and across the region.
The Education and Outdoor Equity Program Manager oversees TreePeople’s various environmental education programs. This role manages a team, leads program implementation, and builds partnerships to expand environmental education access in middle schools across Los Angeles County.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage members of the Middle School team by providing ongoing mentorship to implement the vision, goals, and deliverables of multiple grants that serve secondary schools/districts.
Lead management and execution of Tasks 1-3, 5, 7-12, 14-15 of the Generation Earth contract.
Establish clear performance and professional development goals for each team member, deliver actionable feedback, and implement effective corrective assessments to support successful project execution, contract compliance, program quality, team efficiency, and staff development and retention.
Oversee daily operations of the Middle School team, ensuring effective use of tools, accurate
data collection and tracking, and adherence to all operational procedures. Responsibilities
include maintaining up-to-date systems and regularly updating standard operating procedure
(SOP) documentation.
Exhibit strong fiscal responsibility by managing annual budgets, completing monthly budget
reconciliations, and providing support with financial reporting and expense tracking
Manage program evaluation and oversee data collection processes, ensuring timely and
accurate data entry by Middle School team members.
Assist in professional report writing by preparing detailed and accurate data reports,
compiling supporting evidence, and reviewing report narratives for clarity and consistency.
Ensure compliance with school district requirements by tracking completion of Mandated
Reporter, NOLS Wilderness First Aid, and Outdoor Recreation Leadership trainings.
Responsibilities also include scheduling LiveScan appointments for team members and
managing other compliance-related tasks.
Recruit and hire new staff members as necessary.
Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive outreach plan that
supports equitable programmatic distribution across TreePeople and funder priority regions.
Participate and represent TreePeople at meetings, fundraising, and community events.
Maintain partnerships with local community-based organizations, school districts, and other community stakeholders to expand TreePeople’s social and environmental impact.
Present and facilitate information sharing in front of public audiences.
Support the production of high-caliber and professional memorandums, correspondence, and reports.
Support TreePeople in the development and delivery of special projects and events as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
Strong foundation of environmental education concepts and best practices, including the
Next Generation Science Standards as well as place-based, experiential, and social
emotional learning.
Demonstrated experience with staff supervision, project management, and working with
schools and/or school districts on environmental projects.
Should have demonstrated experience supporting equity, inclusion, and cultural
relevance.
Commitment to improving the environment through education.
Proven understanding of local ecological systems and awareness of current environmental issues impacting diverse communities throughout Southern California, including the impacts of urban development and green solutions, plus Countywide implementation of resolutions on climate literacy and/or sustainability.
Must be able to work well both independently and on a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills: engaging, listening, public speaking, and writing.
High computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Salesforce, Asana, and other internet-based programs.
The ability and willingness to visit school sites across L.A. County and communicate with
school district personnel, administrators, educators, and youth via telephone, email and fax. This includes having a valid California Driver License and reliable transportation.
