Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Outdoor Adventure Guide to join their dynamic team in Denver, Colorado, US . This role is crucial in delivering exceptional outdoor experiences to a diverse clientele, ranging from beginner enthusiasts to seasoned adventurers. You will be responsible for planning, leading, and ensuring the safety of various outdoor excursions, including hiking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, and backcountry camping. As a Senior Guide, you will also mentor junior guides, develop new tour itineraries, and manage equipment inventory and maintenance. The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of local wilderness areas, emergency medical protocols, and advanced navigation techniques. You will foster a positive and engaging environment for all participants, promoting environmental stewardship and responsible outdoor practices. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions in the wilderness. Proficiency in wilderness first aid and CPR is mandatory. Experience in risk management and group leadership is highly valued. Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

**Job Responsibilities**
-The Interpretive Hiking Guide will be assigned with the responsibility of leading guests of all ages on an organized and informative excursion.
-Responsible for educating themselves on the local ecology, geology, history and culture so that they are well-prepared to interpretive these aspects of the Denali area to the guest.
-The Guide will typically get their assignment on the day before the hike is scheduled.
-Report for work shift on time and ready for the hike with the essential gear outlined in the Safety and Operations manual.
-Ensure all gear is in good condition and depart for their pick-up/meeting assignments.
-The Guide will double check to make sure that both the First Aid kit and the emergency cell phone are on their person.
-The Guide will greet each guest, brief them on the plans for the activity, present them with the Acknowledgement of Risk form and collect the necessary. vouchers or tickets from each participant.
-Give a detailed safety briefing and assess each guest on their ability to participate in the activity.
Conduct the activity, maintaining control and leadership, and provide valuable interpretive knowledge for the guests.
-Arrive prepared to perform the duties of Support Staff when hikes or other interpretive activities are not scheduled.
-Capable of safely operating a 15-passenger van on local roads and highways and will be trained in the proper procedures for filling out. required training and operational paperwork.
-Know and comply with all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies and energy.
-Report to work on time and in complete uniform.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As part of the Outdoor Adventure team, you will play a key role in ensuring that every guest that visits Winter Park Resort has an excellent time and is excited to return. We hope the same will be true for our crew members as well. Your responsibilities include guiding guests on various daytime and evening experiences at Winter Park Resort such as: Nature and Summit snowshoe tours, SnoGo ski bike tours (check it out here), teching uphill ski & splitboard gear and leading tours, and helping guests in the shop with sales and rentals- all while conveying your passion for the mountains and the resort to our guests.

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Hourly pay range: $18.00 - $19.00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Responsible for the overall experience of Winter Park Guides guests, including on time meet up, friendly and knowledgeable service, excellent trail knowledge, and creating a fun atmosphere.
  • Guide guests on snowshoe, SnoGo, uphill, and some night tours at Winter Park Resort.
  • Follow all policies and procedures that are specific to the Outdoor Adventure Department, as well as Winter Park Resort policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and company policies with respect to workplace safety and work to achieve a zero-incident safety record.
  • Understand the retail and booking process and assist guests within our store locations.
  • Have a working knowledge of RTP and other booking systems. Responsible for accepting payments and making reservations for tours.
  • Ability to sell retail and maintain a stocked inventory in a retail setting.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of activities within the resort and surrounding community. Help currate adventure experiences for guests.
  • Uphold a schedule of guiding and store hours.
  • Will adhere to direct and strict complience with all safety standards.

What You’ll Do:

As an Outside Brands Boat Captain, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering unforgettable water-based experiences, ensuring our guests’ safety while sharing your passion for the coastal environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating and navigating vessels in compliance with USCG regulations and company standards.
  • Providing engaging and informative tours, sharing insights about the area’s natural and cultural history.
  • Performing routine vessel maintenance and inspections to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Leading with a service-first mindset, creating welcoming and memorable experiences for every guest.
  • Collaborating with the Outside Brands team to support a variety of on-water activities, including fishing, eco-tours, and charters.
  • Adhering to all safety, environmental, and operational policies.
  • Extensive Training : Participate in comprehensive 5-day training sessions to hone your guiding and interpretive skills, ensure familiarity with safety protocols, and deepen your knowledge of local ecosystems. Training dates are March 3-7 and May 12-16.
Requirements:

Maintain and organize activity equipment, ensuring it is in excellent condition and readily available for guest use. Assist in the promotion and marketing of outdoor activities to enhance guest engagement and participation. Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless coordination of guest activities and experiences. Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and hospitality, delivering exceptional service to all guests.
