Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the day to day operations in the department. Works as a team with other supervisors to achieve operational efficiencies and optimum patient satisfaction.
  • Conducts studies and provides input related to department performance improvement and productivity standards.
  • Facilitates implementation of care management strategies.
  • Manages patient caseload in assigned areas and organizes staff schedules and coverage needs to meet volume and productivity standards, including temporary agency coverage. Provides patient care activities according to standards and functions of their individual professional practice.
  • Develops and maintains site-based department policies and procedures. Oversees completion of all required documentation per department policy.
  • Identifies, plans and organizes information systems and process improvements in the department. Ensures that staff are oriented, trained, and current with clinical and other competencies.
  • Orients new staff to clinical and department policies and procedures; assigns mentors to new staff on rotation. Ensures staff competencies are met for equipment and skills.
  • Collaborates effectively with system leadership, physicians and/or committees/work teams in developing, promoting, and enhancing new programs and services, strategies, site projects, standardized competencies, policies and procedures, and other market or site issues.
  • Works in conjunction with site based and market teams to meet all local, state, and federal compliance standards, guidelines, and practices, including the DNV and The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
  • Provides input into operating, staff and capital budgeting process and is accountable for operating within the budget. Ensures that all productivity, labor efficiency, and contribution margins are met. Manages building equipment and issues as required.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale. Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
  • Physical Therapist license issued by the state in which you work, or
  • Occupational Therapist license issued by the state in which you work, or
  • Speech-Language Pathology license issued by the state in which you work, or
  • Athletic Trainer license issued by the state in which you work.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or related field.
Experience Required:
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in rehabilitation, with experience as a lead or senior level staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Excellent diplomacy, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

What You’ll Do

As an Outpatient Physical Therapist, you will provide exceptional care to patients in an outpatient setting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting initial evaluations and developing individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
  • Administering various therapeutic treatments, including exercises, manual therapy, modalities (such as ultrasound, heat/ice therapy, and electrical stimulation), and patient education.
  • Educating patients on exercise programs, posture correction, and injury prevention to ensure long-term recovery and improved functional outcomes.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care.
  • Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed to meet their rehabilitation goals.
  • Documenting treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with departmental policies and industry standards.
  • Providing excellent patient education to empower individuals in managing their rehabilitation and preventing future injuries.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment, adhering to infection control and safety guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Prior experience in outpatient physical therapy settings is preferred.
  • Licensure: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Physical Therapist license in the state at the time of hire.
  • Education: A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent degree from an accredited program is required.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Skills: Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and team members. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Patient Care: Ability to deliver high-quality, compassionate care for a wide range of patients, including those with orthopedic, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance. Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and moving patients during treatment sessions.

The Occupational Therapist assumes responsibility for the ethical and cost effective management, delivery, documentation, outcomes and communication of patient care within the scope of practice of their respective disciplines. This position requires population specific competencies.

Responsibilities
  • The Occupational Therapist responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Interprets referrals; examines, evaluates, and develops and modifies occupational therapy plan of care including anticipated goals and expected outcomes for patients.
  • Performs a comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and safety assessment of assigned patients as evidenced by clinical documentation.
  • Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication as noted in the clinical record.
  • Directs Occupational Therapy Assistants to perform specific components of treatment and interventions and remains responsible for the episode of patient care.
  • May act as clinical instructor and or assist with orientation of new employees or volunteers.
Rehab and Mental Health Only:
  • Provides and modifies skilled interventions through the use of therapeutic procedures and techniques to produce changes in the condition consistent with the diagnosis and prognosis.
  • Initiates promptly the appropriate corrective action(s) when abnormal condition or response is noted.
  • Written reports are concise, legible and accurate and done in a timely manner.
  • Understands the developmental life span of the patient; assesses, interprets and provides care/service in a safe environment according to age-specific and cultural needs; evidence and documentation such as test, direct observation and demonstration.
Home Health Only:
  • Plans for and provides skilled occupational therapy treatment in the home, reassessing the patient's status on each visit and ensuring quality of care as documented in the clinical record.
  • Maintains and submits all required patient documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with home health policies and procedures.
Reports to assigned Manager or Director.

This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Please consult the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or contact Risk Management/Employee Health for additional information.

Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections, communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, mechanical and electrical equipment, variety of chemicals, and sharp equipment (debridement, splinting, and kitchen equipment). Potential for bodily injury related to lifting and cumulative stress. Potential for workplace violence (agitated, confused, combative patients, angry family members). Must follow universal safety precautions. Frequent exposure to hydrocollator. Moderate to frequent exposure to oven, stove, microwave, and heat gun depending on venue of care. May be exposed to constant interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors, and assorted chemicals. Must cope with high case loads and multiple demands. May float to other units. May be required to be on call status, work weekends, or flex schedule. Required to work with wheelchairs, walkers, and other rehab equipment on a daily basis. Frequent exposure to grease, tools, equipment with sharp edges, and lifting of equipment. Aquatics: Frequent exposure to pool chemicals. Frequent exposure to heat and humidity in pool area. Community re-entry and Home Evaluations: Exposed to traffic and weather conditions while riding or driving with patients in vehicle. Potential for high stress level. Potential for involvement in accidents involving property damage, injury and even death. Frequent exposure to weather extremes.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Current Oklahoma Occupational Therapist license OR be eligible for license in the state of Oklahoma AND able to practice under the Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Practice Act. Must have completed licensure by 6 months after initial temporary license is issued. (Must present letter/permit proving eligibility upon hire.)
  • Current BLS or CPR certification upon hire or completion within 30 days of hire required
  • Previous relevant experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).
Only for Occupational Therapists conducting home evaluations:
  • This job may require the incumbent to operate an INTEGRIS-owned vehicle OR personal vehicle (non INTEGRIS-owned) and therefore must have a current Drivers License from the state of residence, as well as a driving record which is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
Aquatics Department Only:
  • 2 years of experience and aquatic experience preferred. Must complete Water Safety Certification within 6 month of hire date.

Hand Therapy Department Only: Certified Hand Therapist preferred.

Therapy Resource Pool Only: 2 years of experience preferred. This job may require the incumbent to operate an INTEGRIS-owned vehicle OR personal vehicle (non INTEGRIS-owned) and therefore must have a current Drivers License from the state of residence, as well as a driving record which is acceptable to our insurance carrier.

Community Re-entry Department Only: 2 years of experience in inpatient rehabilitation preferred.     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Clinical Practice:
    • Administers treatments and occupational agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability.
    • Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
    • Observes and evaluates treatment affect. Recommends change to physician, if needed.
    • Performs an appropriate evaluation and assessment on each patient, as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments, as per policy. This may include pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
    • Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
    • Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching, as appropriate.
    • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
    • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
    • Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
    • Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team.
    • Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
    • Consults other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
    • Administrative :
    • Directs appropriate Occupational Therapy Department staff, including: Occupational Therapy Assistants; Rehabilitation Aides/Mobility Technicians; Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant certification applicants; and/or Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant students
    • Maintains records pertinent to the personnel and operation of the department.
    • Meets current clinical documentation standards and policies.
    • Assists with orientation and inservice training for certified department staff members.
    • Participates in guidance and educational programs.
    • Utilizes approved abbreviations when recording information.
    • Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.

  • Maximum pay: $57.74
