The Material Handler is responsible for completing clerical and hands-on tasks within the warehouse by sending, accepting and recording all movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment and stock to and from the establishment. In addition to tracking inventory and keeping records, the Material Handler may also package items, inspect merchandise and complete other related duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with procurement staff to list expected schedule needs
- Receives shipments and signs paperwork upon receipt
- Inspects contents to ensure they are not damaged
- Verifies packages according to order and invoices (quantity, quality, price)
- Labels deliveries and allocates them to their designated place
- Ensures packaging slips are signed and paid for satisfactory deliveries
- Maintains accurate records and assists in inventory control in Oracle
- Inputs data into the shipping database in an accurate and timely manner
- Prepares shipments and completes paperwork for outbound material
- May organize and maintain finished goods inventory
- Operates forklift
- Performs other functions as required
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-3 years experience in Shipping and Receiving
- Forklift experience preferred
- FedEx/UPS experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of shipping & receiving product flow, digital scales, ERP system, and cycle counts
- Good written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities and Duties:
Receiving
- Interacts with drivers delivering materials and makes sure that they comply with docking procedures before the unloading process begins.
- Verifies identifying information on the bill of lading; visually inspects shipment packaging and raw materials for damages and shortages. If irregularity exists; corresponds/ communicates with Plant Manager and Purchasing to properly rectify and/or document irregularity.
- Unpacks and examines staged incoming shipments: counts, weighs, and measures material. Verifies the examined material information against the bill of ladings, invoices, purchase orders, and incoming quality inspection reports.
- Creates inventory tags for raw materials.
- Works with the quality department regarding material concerns and rejections.
- Collects and prepares all relevant paperwork on purchase orders and forwards them to the accounting department.
- Moves and stores all materials in appropriate locations, until needed for production.
Shipping
- Enters shipments in UPS World Ship manually.
- Moves completed parts/jobs from the production area to Shipping.
- Prepares and completes packing slips, material certifications, and bill of ladings for outgoing orders according to schedule.
- Prepares skids for shipping by properly loading cartons and stretch wrapping.
- Posts weights and shipping information on job travelers and on the skids.
- Schedules truck pickups, FEDEX, DHL, and UPS shipments
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications and that all information is correct on all outgoing paperwork and identifying labels.
- Operates forklift or uses hand truck to move shipments from shipping and receiving department to a designated storage or work area.
- Stages material for jobs to be issued to production and then returns any unused material to the proper storage location with the proper updated inventory tags.
Inventory/Warehouse Management
- Cycle counting
- Organizes the pallet trailer to keep it safe and accessible to employees.
- Keeping overall warehouse inventory organized.
- Operation of Forklift – pulling product from high shelving and loading and unloading trucks.
- Maneuvering up to 250 lbs. (putting large material rolls on a dolly)
- Keeps the dock and the doorway in shipping clean when it snows.

The Operations Shipping and Receiving Supervisor engages in communication with EHS Manager, Customer Service, logistics carriers, domestic and international customers, global suppliers, Cell Leaders, Purchasing, Finance, and other internal/external support staff to ensure On-Time-In-Full requirements are met safely and accurately. Receives incoming material and processes material for outbound shipments using emails and web sites to exchange information. Focus on safety while meeting customer demands is a top priority. This role requires strong communication skills and proficient use of computers for timely communication and order processing.
**What do we want to know about you?**
+ Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one year or more related experience and/or training
+ 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
+ Experience operating forklifts and other shipping equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Prior warehouse or manufacturing / leadership experience and training
+ Working Knowledge of International Export and Domestic freight regulations for Air, Sea, Road, Rail, and Parcel shipments.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Teams, Excel
+ Ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment.
+ Oracle ERP Experience desired.
+ Shipping and Receiving experience desired.

+ Lead a team of hourly employees to support the business operation

+ Develop, coordinate, lead and execute daily production and shipping and receiving plans
+ Drive daily schedule attainment to meet all internal and external customer commitments
+ Develop and implement a continuous improvement strategy to improve safety, service, On time Delivery and quality, while reducing cycle times, costs, and in-process inventory levels
+ Lead improvement project initiatives with a Lean focus
+ Effectively communicate and collaborate with cross functional leadership team

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions. Heated dock and warehouse, Air-conditioned office. PPE required in production areas as defined by plant policies.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between
$60,700.00-$83,400.00
The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. KO Business Solutions is a family-owned consulting firm proud to work with a manufacturing company in Elk Grove Village, IL who is seeking a Logistics Specialist (Shipping & Receiving) to join their team. The Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating day-to-day customer service and logistics operations, and must hold a current forklift certification.
Schedule: 7am - 5pm (8 hour shift)

Pay-Rate: $20/hr
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Provide customer support at MIL's service/will-call counter as well as by phone and email.
- Complete multiple steps throughout the order fulfillment cycle including receiving inspection, order entry, planning, contract review, product labeling and routing.
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment to load/unload, move and store product.
- Pick, pack and ship product utilizing UPS World Ship and FedEx Insight.
- Assist in scheduling and preparing 3rd party freight pick-ups.
- Operate company vans and box trucks on an as-needed basis to carry out local pick-ups and deliveries as well as transition runs between MIL's facilities.
- Provide cross-functional support to department personnel in coordinating order status and throughput, expediting, and fulfilling on-demand customer requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A detail-oriented, organized, self-starting individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and efficiently complete tasks with consistency and accuracy, often under pressure and/or short deadlines.
- PC proficient with a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of MIL's processing capabilities as well as MIL's Quality System, general procedures, and applicable industry standard specifications.
- Experience in a manufacturing, customer service or shipping and receiving environment.
- Must obtain and maintain internal forklift certification.
- Experience with UPS and/or FedEx shipping software a plus.
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Applicants must have a high school degree at a minimum. Applicants with a college degree or some college coursework are preferred.
- Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- This position requires access to ITAR-controlled information and materials. The successful candidate must meet all ITAR eligibility requirements, including being a U.S. person as defined by ITAR.
