You will spearhead LCD's packaging engineering function across our global division. This includes specifying packaging materials, ensuring safe packaging, testing to meet regulatory and quality standards, and conducting cost and design reviews with suppliers.

**A day in the Life:**
+ Champion the divisional packaging engineering function; develop site teams' capabilities and manage the packaging engineering team's day-to-day workload.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ As a Packaging Engineer, you will work in the Packaging R&D group on thermal designs across semiconductor packaging level, flash product printed circuited board assembly (PCBA) level, and host level.
+ The ideal candidate will be responsible for thermal modeling (CFD) and validation of flash products PCBA using analytical/numerical analysis and measurement techniques.
+ The focus will be on solutions to meet increased demands for small form factor packages with constrained physical and thermal environments.
**Qualifications**
REQUIRED:
+ Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering plus >3 years, or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering plus >5 years of relevant industrial experience.
+ Solid knowledge through academic coursework or experience required in thermal modeling and measurements of IC packaging and related areas.
+ A strong background in thermal sciences with emphasis on both analytical and measurement methods.
+ Thorough knowledge of material thermal properties and test methods.
+ Working knowledge in applying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in related areas; and familiarity with software tools such as FloTHERM and ANSYS Icepak.
+ Working knowledge in scientific programming

**Job Summary**
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading projects to support the development of new packaging systems and or components that enhance and preserve West's high value products. **What does this role look like?**
As an **Electronics Packaging Manager** , you will have responsibilities for the execution of mechanical design and analysis and sourcing of avionics packages, harnesses, connectors, and parts components.
You will lead a team of designers and analysts and develop internal customer relationships to ensure program commitments are established and met.
You are a leader who is disciplined in project management principles, value-driven Systems Engineering and who is able to drive design evolution in a systematic and thoughtful way. You will be accountable for working with Program Managers and CAMs to execute electronics analysis efforts while properly balancing cost, schedule, and scope constraints.
**Responsibilities Include:**
1. Execution accountability for electro-mechanical design and analysis tasks for the Fleet Ballistic Missile modernization program.
2. Scope of activities include these business phases: Non-recurring development, Recurring support, producibility improvements, troubleshooting, and post-delivery support.
3. Production support (e.g. lead team to resolve hardware discrepancies such as Vendor Requests for Information/Changes, Quality Non-conformances or engineering drawing updates).
**Key activities you will accomplish in this role:**
- Ensure Electro-Mechanical staffing needs are met in the Avionics Tactical IPT.
- Provide leadership on a fast paced team from requirements through development and production.
- Be responsible to assure coordination between functional groups during the product development life cycle.
- Communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to the customer.
- Conducting personnel management for a portion of the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Tactical Avionics team
- Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection, and training.
- Responsible for performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
