About the Role

• Responsible for the effective and efficient building, staging, and loading of products.
• General housekeeping.
• Properly stocking and rotating product throughout warehouse locations.
• Organization and staging of shells and pallets.

What We're Looking For

• The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma with a minimum of two years of experience in: Warehousing, Distribution, or Merchandising
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
• Strong organizational, time management and decision-making skills with the ability to work within a highly distracting environment.
• Must have the ability to operate powered industrial equipment including a fork-truck in a safe manner and maintain annual fork-truck certification.
• Basic math skills. Must possess intermediate personal computer skills.
• Ability to continually lift 60 pounds from floor to waist height and occasionally lift 75 pounds from floor to shoulder height. Prolonged sitting, standing, twisting, and/or bending. The repetitive motion of one's neck, wrist, fingers, and/or arms.
• May be required to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

The Material Handler performs daily distribution yard activities for a facility. Perform distribution-related functions (receiving, storing, and shipping/building of loads). Operate forklift. Ensure load matches order prior to vehicle exiting yard. Perform customer service activities. Material Handlers have broad in-depth knowledge of building material products and warehouse operations. Possess alertness and adaptation to warehouse routines. Understand and apply fundamental mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Maintain good housekeeping in work area. Follow safety programs and ensure compliance of OSHA regulation. Material Handlers demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: HS Diploma, GED or two (2) years equivalent work experience. Must be able to understand and communicate safety and other work related instructions. Working Conditions are in a warehouse operations environment with considerable physical exertion. Will perform duties in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of building material products and engineered wood products a plus. Ability to understand and measure lengths of material required. General warehouse experience, including industrial forklift operation, and/or knowledge of warehouse work environment preferred.

Our client in Loves Park, Illinois is looking for a hard-working, energetic individual to join their team as a Material Handler. It is the Material Handler’s responsibility to move and place material, packages, and other production items to ensure other personnel can stay on task throughout the production cycle.

Responsibilities of the Material Handler :

• Load and unload trucks
• Safely operate forklift truck (after trained and certified)
• Pick, pull, and place product in storage
• Ensure production work stations have material, packaging, and other items as tasked
• Move product from work stations to next process step
• Keep warehouse and wire room of stored product, material, and packaging are organized and accessible.
