We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Packer to join our production team and ensure our high-quality printed products are carefully prepared for shipment. This role supports our Night Shift (Mon–Wed, 4:30 pm–6:00 am) OR our Weekend Shift (Fri–Sat, 4:00 am–5:30 pm, Sun 4:00 am–2:30 pm).
The Packer is responsible for inspecting, counting, and packing printed labels and packaging materials according to job specifications, while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect printed materials for quality, ensuring accuracy, color consistency, and defect-free products.
Count, stack, and pack products according to job tickets and customer specifications.
Apply labels, shrink wrap, or other packaging as required.
Maintain accurate production and packing records.
Follow all safety protocols and company policies.
Assist in maintaining a clean and organized packing area.
Collaborate with press and finishing operators to ensure smooth workflow.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in a manufacturing, printing, or packaging environment preferred, but not required (we provide training).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Basic math and counting skills.
Reliability, punctuality, and a team-oriented mindset.

About the Role
Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3pm or 3 pm - 11 pm
As a Packing Operator at our yogurt processing facility, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining packing equipment to ensure the efficient and accurate packaging of yogurt products.
Machine Operation:
Operate packing equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to package yogurt products efficiently and accurately.
Quality Assurance:
Follow quality control policies and procedures to ensure that packaged products meet established standards.
Conduct visual inspections of packaged products for defects or abnormalities and take corrective action as needed.
Monitor packaging materials, such as film or containers, for proper alignment and functionality.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating packing equipment and working in the production area.

Our packing room is the Grand Central of Open Hand. As you would imagine, with nearly 5,500 meals to prepare, package and deliver every day, the atmosphere is electric. But it’s not all work - the music is always on, and the friendly banter among new friends never ceases. It all makes for a very memorable and rewarding experience.
Description: Packing involves portioning food into individual containers and snack bags on our packing assembly line. With over 5,000 meals to package every day, your help is essential. This is a great project for individuals and families, and a great team-building exercise for school, business and church groups!
Volunteers are expected to stay for the entirety of their scheduled shift.
Volunteer Groups Alert: Reservations for Volunteer Groups (5 or more people) must be coordinated via the Volunteer Services Team. Please email or call if you are interested in bringing a group.
- Tennis shoes or nonslip/slip resistant shoes are required; no heels.
- Absolutely no jewelry of any kind . This includes but is not limited to rings, bracelets, watches, step-trackers, necklaces, earrings, gauges, cartilage, nose, and permanent piercings.
- Long pants are required.
- No sleeveless shirts or tank stops. A short sleeved t-shirt is fine. (The packing area can be a little chilly and a light jacket is recommended.)
- No headphones, ear buds, orBluetooth earpieces may be worn.
Age Requirements
For individuals or families of less than 5 people: Volunteers must be age 14 or older. All volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
For groups or families of 5 or more people: Every volunteer group with minors must follow the chaperone ratio: 1 adult per every 3 minor volunteers. Chaperones are required to remain with underage volunteers at all times. Groups of more than 5 must make a reservation by contact volunteer services at

Packing Inspector Duties:
- Examine the bags prior to packaging, to ensure quality standards are maintained at all times.
- Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists.
- Make sure that the correct number of bags are in each case.
- Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
- Follow the instruction of the machine operator.
- Responsible for reporting any problems seen during production including. bag construction, adhesives, print quality, loud or unusual noises from the machine and defective boxes or other materials.
- Make sure that each case of finished product is being printed with a time/date code.
- Packing Inspector's will work on any and all machines' lines as needed or instructed by a supervisor or adjuster.
- May be required to transfer finished products, raw materials, tools, or equipment between storage and work areas of plants and warehouses, by hand or using hand trucks or powered lift trucks.
- Signal coworkers to direct them to move products during the production process.
- Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and notify operators of any malfunctions.
- Make sure that ALL products on their machines are labeled correctly.
- Help production workers by performing duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials or tools, and cleaning work areas and equipment.
- Clean and lubricate equipment as instructed by a machine operator or supervisor. May also be required to go get supplies for normal operation and/or general maintenance such as rags, lubricants, tape, stretch film, cleaning solutions, etc.
- Assisting the machine operator with print set-ups, machine size changes, normal operation and maintenance. This includes going to get ink and plates for prints, changing tapers and adhesive pads for the machine, changing print rollers, cleaning ink trays and getting boxes ready for product packaging.
- Responsible for making sure that the bottom-paste pot has paste in it during operation.
- Remove trash and debris from the production area during their shift to maintain a safe working environment.
