Our Technicians work in a team atmosphere to build and test industrial control panels. This requires effective communication on project status or issues.
Reports to: Solution Center Lead or Foreman
Minimum Qualifications:
· Formal electrical training
· Previous experience wiring electrical products
· Ability to read and understand both ladder-style and open-face electrical schematics
· Current, valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of NEC & UL codes
Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in a shop environment with occasional travel to customer locations to provide service on panel shop products. You will work around electricity and other potential hazards requiring appropriate safety equipment and practices at all times.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Essential Job Functions:
· Safely operate electrical related hand tools and small power tools
· Use safe work practices when working with energized panels during testing
· Modify enclosures and back panels per cutout drawings
· Modify parameters/settings of automation products used in industrial control panels
· Troubleshoot and correct wiring issues during panel testing
· Effectively use electrical test equipment such as VOM and Current meters
· Maintain a sharp attention to details to ensure complete and accurate panel assemblies

As our Control Panel Technician, you will build the panels that keep our business alive. You will build complex electrical control panels that control the movement of water to cities, municipalities, and homes for our water and wastewater industry Clients.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Assembling and wiring control panels utilizing blueprints, schematics, and a bill of materials
+ Produce and assure custom panels meet customer specifications as directed by team leader
+ Assure Custom Panel products are shipped as expected by the customer.
+ Review work for errors prior to releasing to Quality Control.
+ Provide marked up documentation for any errors detected during build and any suggestions for improvements.
+ Implement Custom Panel product cost reductions and be actively involved in a process of ongoing improvement for the area.
**Qualifications:**
+ **MUST** have experience working off blueprints and schematics.
+ **Have** knowledge in electrical theory, measurement skills, and light metal fabrication.
+ Must be able to lift/push/pull (maximum 50 pounds individually).

STRUCTURES TECHNICIAN (PANEL SHOP)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Modify, repair, assemble, and install rocket and spacecraft components and subcomponents

  • Use tooling holes, pilot holes, or by hand (as required), per drawing or tooling instructions

  • Align parts and secure in place using clecos or tooling/hand clamps

  • Install fasteners in correct sequence per drawing, using correct tools (e.g., rivet gun and bucking bar, drill motor, power screwdriver, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner)

  • Shim and/or trim parts as required

  • Select drill bits, reamers and/or countersinking tools for pilot and full-size holes

  • Locate, drill pilot holes using drill motor and proper size drill bit(s)

  • Drill, ream, countersink full size holes in parts/assemblies, in proper sequence and to correct size using drill motor

  • Deburr panels per drawing, using proper tools (e.g., deburr knife, rotary tools and orbital sander)

  • Set countersinking tools to proper depth as required

  • Disassemble parts and deburr holes using chip chasers, deburring tools, and files to prepare for installation of fasteners

  • Use solvents to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly

  • Apply sealant, Alodine, primer, adhesives, special finishes

  • Load and unload ovens to bond detail parts to assemblies

  • Determine and obtain correct type and size fasteners

  • Cold work holes to prepare for close tolerance fastener installation

  • Install bushings into housings using arbor press and/or hydraulic puller

  • Apply liquid nitrogen to facilitate installation of bushings

  • Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing

  • Self-check work after completion using QA instruments to ensure it is complete per drawing

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 1+ years of experience in hardware assembly, test, maintenance, material handling, and/or installation; OR certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, and/or electronics

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of professional structural assembly experience

  • A&P license

  • Experience drilling, reaming, honing and/or countersinking straight and close tolerance holes

  • Experience gained through the military or within an aviation manufacturing company

  • Experience using various types of hand tools and/or hand-held power tools, floor-mounted power tools and precision measuring tools

  • Capable of visualizing a three-dimensional shape from a two-dimensional view and understanding symbols, flag notes, and general notes

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations accurately (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions)

  • Experience making basic layouts on parts or assemblies in order to establish reference points and to check dimensions

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work all shifts, additional overtime, and weekends as needed

  • Must be able to work the following shift:

  • 1st shift Monday - Friday: 5AM - 3:30PM

  • Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Structures Technician/Level 1: $23.00 - $7.00/hour

Structures Technician/Level 2: 26.00 - 32.50/hour

Structures Technician/Level 3: 31.00 - 38.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for test fitting body panels and lighting systems on vehicles and evaluating different versions for fit, appearance and functional comparability.
  • Objectively comment, in a clear and confident manner, on the fit, appearance and functionality of all types of body panels and exterior lighting on a vehicle or other parts types as needed.
  • Accurately complete all applicable documentation in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide input to management, customers and other individuals involved in the industry when requested.
  • Organize the daily workload in an efficient manner and inform other staff regarding the details of turn around time, test progress, and status.
  • Responsible for meeting project, department and customer deadline requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Transport vehicles and/or part pickups to & from lab.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Capable of meeting the requirements for attaining ASE Certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years work experience or vocational training as an automobile collision repair or service technician or combined automotive experience with other related transportation repair or service experience.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Proven ability to independently plan, organize, and complete projects within established standards, objectives, and time frames.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices.
  • Experience utilizing personal computers and Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Physical dexterity to perform the technical functions which are inherent to the position.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time as well as to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to view, read and comprehend a variety of specifications, reports, manuals, and other technical materials.
  • Ability to lift and carry samples, parts and equipment up to 49 pounds.
  • Must be an effective communicator, in terms of actively listening, speaking and writing.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities.
  • Must have excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)
  • Must be willing to utilize personal vehicle for business related travel and submit mileage expenses according to company policy.
  • Must have own set of basic hand tools to perform the associated work
