Responsible that the IP holder is aware of and in agreement with Creative goals and intent; and that the IP Holder’s comments, questions and concerns, are tracked and routed to the team for review and leading the team to provide timely responses. Manages the process of assembling assets and creating the documents that are submitted to the IP Holder, and is responsible for managing the status Matrix for Universal. The Manager is responsible for informing and advising the Project Team Leadership of questions, concerns and comments as they are received; gathering, creating, packaging and returning solutions to the IP Holder, or explaining the decisions made and gaining the IP Holder’s approval of the information as submitted. Acts as the Creative Lead on assigned projects, supervising any assigned staff and workloads and determines strategies ensuring the successful completion of all tasks and/or assignments through all aspects of design and production from original concept through final installation. The Manager shall be responsible for ensuring conformance with any and all 3 rd party Intellectual Properties from a creative standpoint. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsible Individual to ensure the Project’s Creative Design Intent is successfully conveyed to and approved by the IP holder in all guest-experience related, relevant aspects of the Project (or as per the unique terms of the contract.) As part of the Project’s leadership team, the Manager assists in developing a partnership and collaboration with the IP Holder to ensure the thorough understanding, timely input to and approval of all needed aspects of the design, production and final installation of the Work, in alignment with the Project’s creative intent. Assures guest-experience and creative design intent is properly communicated to the IP Holder. Develops and manages the Master Approvals Matrix as a collaborative work group document. Leads the formation of and manages a project-wide Approvals team with members from each department delivering required items for process submission to the IP holder for approvals. Develops and manages work plans, estimates, schedules and tasks for all IP submittals, and localization efforts in support of the overall Project goals and strategies. Ensures that the appropriate level and number of specialist resources are identified for and assigned as needed throughout the IP approvals and localization process. Develops, manages and reports status on IP approvals progress. Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Travel is required depending upon Project needs. Job Title/High-Level Position Summary:

Enovis is looking for an experienced IP Paralegal who wants to develop sustainable and efficient processes for a growing medical device company. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Intellectual Property, you will be responsible for partnering with the Vice President in providing a variety of critical intellectual property support functions including managing IP assets (e.g., patent, trademark and copyright) and their related documents and deadlines, fostering outside counsel relationships, and collaborating on high priority projects related to financial management and reporting, developing processes and procedures, and assembling training and education materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to various IP requests from business teams such as patent and trademark clearance searches, portfolio management, and other general IP issues.
  • Work with outside counsel to coordinate searches and filings.
  • Engage with outside counsel firms, including task assignment and deadline management.
  • Implement policies related to firm billing, budget tracking, and forecasting.
  • Develop and administer workflows between R&D, business, and outside counsel.
  • Explore alternative service providers and tools for automation.
  • Implement technology solutions to practice of in-house IP function.
  • Develop Outside Counsel Guidelines and administer such.
  • Assist with preparing standard forms and templates for IP workflows.
  • Work with the VP and outside counsel to develop training materials for the business on subjects varying from patenting, trademark clearance, freedom to operate, etc.
  • Coordinate correspondence and meetings between outside counsel and in-house stake-holders.
  • Administer Patent Committee meetings and Project Stage-gate Reviews.
  • Develop integration efforts to in-take new IP portfolios that result from acquisitions and work with outside counsel to maintain integrity of IP portfolio; and
  • Perform duties related to other special projects as required.
  • Minimum Basic Qualifications:
    2+ years of legal operations experience in addition to 5+ years IP paralegal experience
  • High degree of attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently with minimal oversight.
  • In-depth knowledge of patent and trademark processes.
  • Knowledge of annuities systems, and IP tools to tracking and data analytics.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and docket management systems is essential.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Current Paralegal certificate from an accredited school, and minimum of five (5) years relevant working experience OR minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience working with intellectual property preferably in a law firm or an in-house legal department or comparable medical-technology-oriented business environment.
  • Must be a process-oriented self-starter and problem solver, willing to go the extra step to keep matters advancing.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance a plus.
  • Must enjoy working directly with our business partners and R&D, marketing, and regulatory teams.
  • Must enjoy working with outside counsel.
  • Experience managing a global trademark docket of no less than 500 marks, where the marks are with our outside counsel firms; and
  • Experience managing a global patent docket of no less than 1000 applications, where the applications are filed with our outside counsel firms.

Under the direction of the Associate General Counsel, the ideal candidate will have experience in multiple areas of law and provide comprehensive oversight and management on a wide variety of legal matters related to International Motor's business, with a focus on privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
Responsibilities
+ Stay updated on applicable federal, state, and local regulations and laws to ensure compliance; analyze their impact on the business and provide practical guidance.
+ Provide legal support and guidance on vehicle data and cybersecurity.
+ Interact with R&D team from the initial stages of product development and beyond to identify potential intellectual property opportunities and risks.

Minimum Requirements
+ Juris Doctor Degree (JD)
+ At least 5 years of experience as an attorney
Additional Requirements
+ Preferably have at least an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering or electromechanical engineering and must demonstrate a strong understanding of software and controls.
+ Must have active license to practice law in at least one state and a member in good standing of the bar and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent Office.
+ Must be able to obtain a limited license in Illinois if not already appropriately licensed in Illinois.
Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
