St. Marys Health Care System is seeking two full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Pathologists to join our in-house pathology team. This role is an excellent opportunity to step into a well-established practice with smooth operational workflows and strong support from hospital administration.

With the current pathology group owner retiring and the growth that has occurred within the system, these opening will backfill key roles in pathology services and ensure continuity of high-quality diagnostic care.

The new pathologists will work alongside a seasoned colleague who has transitioned to hospital employment, allowing for a seamless onboarding and strong team collaboration. This is a full-time position based out of Athens GA.

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Digital Pathology Coordinator-Anatomic Pathology.

The Digital Pathology Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the operation of whole slide imaging systems and software platforms, performing high-quality scans, associated quality assessments, and maintaining equipment. The Digital Pathology Coordinator will work closely with the pathology laboratory staff and pathologists to ensure that the digital imaging and analysis of specimens meet the required standards for accurate diagnosis. Reports directly to the Director of Operations, Anatomic Pathology at the Main Campus with dotted line reporting to the Assistant Director Anatomic Pathology at LI.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Works in conjunction with site Managers, and Digital Pathology Quality Manager to oversee digital pathology workflow. 2. Operates and maintains whole slide imaging systems and software platforms 3. Prepares and scans slides for digital analysis 4. Performs quality control assessments and quality assurance of digital pathology images 5. Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines and standards 6. Collaborates with pathology laboratory and other team members to optimize workflows 7. Performs any data entry associated with digital pathology systems and manage data sets as needed. 8. Troubleshoots technical issues and communicates with technical support teams 9. Maintains equipment and perform regular maintenance checks to ensure equipment is properly functioning 10. Manages digital slide inventory. 11. Under direction of Operations manager works on OSR related projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in the major of biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
  • Excellent computer, Microsoft Office (Excel) and project presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of improvement methodology.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an anatomic pathology laboratory. Master's Degree, CPHQ/CPPS, Lean, Six Sigma certification.

+ Coordinating patient case correspondence/materials, test orders, stains for cases, answering telephones, and providing related follow-through

**Qualifications**
To be considered for this position, you must meet one of the following:
+ Five years of secretarial experience
+ Associate degree or completion of a formal medical secretary and/or transcriptionist program and three years of experience in healthcare related operational functions (i.e., hospital services, medical administrative assistant, desk or appointment functions)
+ Bachelor degree and one year of relevant lab experience
**Additional Qualifications**
+ Experience working with computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheet, database and electronic calendaring/scheduling systems, and web applications is required.
+ Must be able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and work collaboratively and professionally with a variety of work areas.
+ Requires excellent application of grammar, punctuation, and English usage.
+ Ability to understand diverse accents and speech variations.
+ Ability to prioritize work and follow through independently, support a variety of consultants along with multiple specialties, and handle an assortment of tasks
+ Must possess a high-level skill in organization, efficiency, clerical aptitude, attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal relations.

The Department of the Medical Examiner currently has an open position for a Forensic Pathology Fellow.Our Forensic Pathology training program is accredited by the ACGME. We are participating in the (the Match) and will submit our ranking list by the Match deadline of April 16.San Diego County is a large jurisdiction of approximately 3.3 million people covering approximately 4,300 square miles. Over 9,000 deaths per year are reported to our office, and we take jurisdiction on approximately 4,000 of those cases. The diverse geographic features of the county, including urban, suburban, and rural areas, as well as mountains, deserts, waterways, and an international border, provide fellows with a wide variety of case types.Daily multidisciplinary meetings are held each morning to discuss new cases and the previous day's cases. The department has in-house investigations and a full toxicology laboratory. Fellows will have comfortable offices next to the rest of the physician staff. Fellows are valuable members of the team and attend scenes, take call, and accompany staff to court if they do not have the opportunity to testify in their own cases. Fellows are sent to either the AAFS or NAME meetings, spend over a week in the Regional Crime Laboratory, and spend time in forensic anthropology, forensic odontology, and forensic toxicology. This recruitment has a limited term for the academic year beginning July 1, 2027. Appointments to this job classification are limited to twelve months, or 2080 hours, and are not subject to Civil Service protection.
